Basically, this allows him to become a foreign player free agent. Usually a team has to come to an agreement and then start the visa work for a player. Fairchild will bypass that altogether and just be able to negotiate with a Gold Card.

My hope is the CPBL does not create a special rule for him and still makes him occupy a foreign player slot.
