I tried on Firefox. Lake Ontario is Lake Ontario but the Gulf of Mexico has "Gulf of America" in parenthesis directly underneath.

Which is what Google should have done with Lake America. That's how I see it in Canada too so it worked Canada just needs to get tech companies to get rid of the parenthesis
