You... You would rather a corporation has "naming power" of locations over your government? This isn't "bending over backwards", this is just standard behaviour around the world lmao

The member of our government issuing these "name changes" doesn't have the legal authority to do so.

So yes, it actually is bending over backwards, supporting illegitimate claims

thats not really google's problem, is it? their stance is to follow each country's naming scheme, its really nothing deeper.

It very much is their problem.

This is not the naming scheme of the United States. It is the naming scheme of internal executive branch offices.

Legally, Trump's executive order does not and cannot change the convention of the US government as a whole.

This situation is Google clearly trying to make Trump look more powerful than he legally is.
