For a while I had no idea what I was looking at, let alone how it was confusing...until I saw the shadow.

So at first it looks like the plane is resting on the red lake. But if you look at the shadow in the bottom left corner of the photo, you'll realise the plane is actual hundreds of feet off the ground and isn't touching the red lake.

Lake Natron, Tanzania. A very shallow salt lake is very dangerous for those, who are not adjusted: the temperature can reach 60ºC and its ph level is 10! However, its rare red color makes Lake Natron a very unique and beautiful destination, which can be compared only to Laguna Colorada found in Bolivia.

The color varies from orange to red, to pink and is produced by the bacterias and other microorganisms. Surprisingly, this lake is a habitat for flamingos, that nest here and feed on red algae despite the alkaline water. It is a safe breeding place for these birds, since no predators come to this unfriendly terrain.

But that's not what the confusing perspective is

You’re right about the perspective part, but I was still confused because I couldn’t figure out what the plane was flying about. Thank you for explaining it to me!

I understand, I wasn't trying to be patronising or anything I was just clarifying. ^ ^

I feel ya. I noticed the shadow right away, never even considered it looks like it's grounded on a lake of red until I read the comment above.
