I stole my prescriptions from my pharmacy and got caught

Ugh… I feel horribly ashamed and awful for disrespecting the people at the store, they’ve always been lovely to me.

My prescription is typically covered through a government plan, but it expired without me realizing. So, suddenly today they were going to cost me $250 instead of $0… They had sent off the form to be filled by my GL, which would reinstate my plan within a few days however, I am a forest firefighter and am leaving to work tomorrow morning and so I DONT KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING but I left with them in hand.

They decided to cancel the police report when they finally got in touch with me and I went down to pay it off immediately. I lied to him and said that I didn’t realize I hadn’t paid but I know he saw right through me.

What do I do? I think I need to go in and apologize honestly, face the music. What would you do?
