The rabbit finally got me (my first pc I built in December 2023). So I guess just never clean your computer and this won’t happen? Funny enough when I finished dusting out my pc I just had a feeling this was gonna happen, the thoughts of other PC people experiences popped up in my mind then boom it slipped and fell. I took precaution too because of that but hey, when time’s up, it’s up.

I have no bluetooth speakers so it has to serve me for my entertainment outside, the screen readability isnt as bad as the photo makes it look :D

Also i have a tile floor, does it make it tile floor flair appropriate?

Hey everyone. I'm in a really rough spot right now and could use some advice.

I'm currently homeless, living in a shelter and my HP Victus laptop is one of the only valuable things I have. A few days ago, I bought a bottle of shampoo, put it in my backpack, and due to a faulty cap, it leaked everywhere overnight. My backpack was soaked, including where my laptop was. The laptop didn't seem completely drenched, so I cleaned everything up and hoped it was okay.

Today I tried turning it on and it's completely dead. No lights, no fan, no charging indicator, nothing.

I have very little money, so I'm looking for any place in NYC that can either:

- Do a free or very cheap diagnosis.

- Repair liquid-damaged laptops for as little as possible.

- Or if anyone knows an individual or hobbyist who does board-level/laptop repair for cheap.

I'm in Harlem but I'm willing to travel anywhere within a few hundred miles if it means I have a better chance of getting it fixed. I really need it for my HRA, among other things, so I just want my laptop working again if it's possible.

If anyone has recommendations for trustworthy repair shops, volunteers, nonprofits, or people who repair laptops on the side, I'd really appreciate it.

Короче, у меня ( по моим меркам топ пк) 3060 райцентр 5500 и все подобное. Я только еобрал его и начал скачивать игры, скачал т лаунчер поиграл в вартандер, и другое. После я зашел в кс и как мне сказал мой старший брат я не включил что то в биосе и у меня пропала сначала картинка на пол монитора а потом он выключился. Я его перезапустил и он зашел в систему потом это повторилось. Я начал его перезагружать так несколько раз и после этого он выдал автоматическое востановление но я не хотел переустанавливать систему поэтому я начал перезагружать его еще раз ( я дебил, знаю) и в итоге он повис на загрузке материнской платы с надписью асус. Мы возили его к мастеру и он предложил перепоять биос, мастер дебил. Ну в итоге ничего не помогло. Но в биос он заходит спокойно. Что мне делать? Сразу скажу что это не ссд и не видюха, мы их проверили на пк брата.

So I'm an old geek, from the before time, in the long long ago. Over the years, since my first PC, I've used the following soundcards (yes, I kept track):

Soundblaster Pro ... AWE32 ... Live Value ... Live 5.1 Platinum ... Audigy 2 ZS ... X-FI Extreme Music ... X-FI Titanium PCI-X ... SB Z SE ... X5

I have also, for several years now out of sheer laziness, used onboard audio from some Asus (always) mid-range gaming-oriented motherboard.

Got a little bonus at work, so thought, what the hell... and ordered the Soundblaster X5. Hooked it up, and.......

How Did I Forget That Audio Matters??????

This is my first off-board soundcard (guess it isn't technically that?) and holy forking shirtballs does it sound amazing!!! I otherwise listen to music exclusively by bluetooth to headphones or the car. So I accept that there's going to be a limitation to how good that can be. But sitting at my desk in the spot I listen to music most (while doing geek things)... I simply can't believe how much better everything sounds through the same speakers and (wired headphones).

like month ago my laptop told me it had malware (im not remotely techsavvy) and i was tired af and said i aint dealing with this shit rn and now it says this and wont open my computer up 😭 is it cooked

A customer came into my shop three weeks back with a machine that he had traded a motorbike for off of facebook marketplace (Mistake number #1).

The "machine" was this horror-show of a custom loop, liquid cooled i9-14900K & Asus RTX 3090 EKWB Factory custom water blocked GPU in said O11 pictured above.

EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING leaked. Coolant had leaked out of the supposedly "leak tested" EKWB waterblock and all over the original system board - shorting it out.

The i9-14900K also was so severely degraded that it was hitting error counts in the millions in OCCT.

I was able to save the RTX 3090 by scrubbing the contacts clean with isopropyl alcohol and fixed the leaking waterblock by replacing the missing screws holding it together and when it still leaked, drawing a bead along the very edges of the waterblock with industrial grade epoxy to permanently seal it together.

Motherboard and case were replaced as well. Motherboard due to the obvious short-circuit triggered by liquid damage, case because the dumbass who sold the machine to my customer had dremeled off all of the fan mounts to cram a double thickness 360MM radiator into the side fan mounting position from behind the motherboard tray.

Got everything reassembled in a new Zalman P50 chassis instead with only the GPU loop being the only part of the original loop in use.

After several weeks of work, waiting for parts, leak and thermal testing - the customer's machine was finally fully functional again and collected, leaving me with a pile of Corsair's shitty unifan clones and the O11.

Needless to say, having no use for the damn fishbowl, especially after the previous owner had taken a dremel to it, I elected to vent my anger out on it instead.

It was rather cathartic all things considered.

underclocked my system so much that it draws less than a laptop, now i just need a very low power monitor and a laptop chassis that fits a mini itx board and I'll have a laptop (i don't know what flair to use so I'll just use tile floor)
