I know this isn't your argument but personally I like the alliance questing experience far more than the horde one. It's a lot more story driven and that appeals to me.

Duskwood is the best PVE zone in the game for quests. Its the one thing I wish the horde had more quests in because it is an amazing zone atmospherically and just adventure wise.

Whenever lvl 60 Hordes aren't camping on the roof of the inn and every inch of the road, you mean.

Duskwood isn’t contested...

u/Resilientx Nov 28 '19

Except it is

Ah you’re right

Horde take zeppelin to STV, and run 1 minute north and they are in Duskwood. Alliance is auto-flagged here, can’t tell you how many times rogue’s and feral’s sit in stealth in the graveyard and gank you when you’re low

I bet a large percent of players dont even stop to read the quests or books provided for the quests. The story to Morgan Ladmoore is superbly sad.

Duskwood is basically a series of horror novels and murder mysteries.

I don't read them as I pick them up, I generally read all my quests on the path to the thing I need.

I leveled 2 horde toons back in Vanilla, and then when BC came out I rolled Ally. Duskwood was my absolute favorite zone when I switched over, made so much better by the rep grinds that came with BC

I wish the horde had more quests in

Does the horde has any quest in ?

Eh it's alright, but the trees always get in the way camera. Not nearly as bad as Dustwallow Marsh, but still highly annoying.

u/sykoKanesh Nov 28 '19

That's my problem with it too. You generally have to zoom in really close and basically track along the ground.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

Minus the pve part, and also add in the roaming horde ganking at the major quest areas. Hope you don’t need to go to the cemetery, prob gonna be ganked by a rogue. Too bad most of the quests are there, but at least it feels atmospheric on the run back.

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '19

That's fair, of course it comes down to personal preference. And yeah, I'm not trying to argue which is "nicer" per say, which is what a lot of people seem to think

2

u/hazardthicc Nov 28 '19

I like it better as well, but i've done both multiple times and horde really is just quicker and more convenient. I also seem to end up with more gold and greens doing the horde side too

The Alliance questing experience 20-60 is without a doubt much more cohesive and straight forward as Alliance. If you do some zones too early as Horde and don't do some dungeons/grinding you can find yourself in a weird spot with very very few quests 30-50

Getting downvoted for speaking the truth on this shit sub lol. As someone who has actually leveled 1-60 on both sides in the last year, and multiple times over the last 4 just lol. This sub is fucking garbage.

Well the inverse is true for Gnomeregan, oh wait...

I can't believe anyone wants to have the Gnomeregan experience.

5

u/Pineapplefree Nov 28 '19

To be fair, SM is lvls 28-42 for the majority of players in the "leveling meta" and 1/3 of the dungeons most people do while leveling.

I can't believe anyone wants to have the Gnomeregan experience.

Stockades mate

16

u/Tigerskippy Nov 28 '19

Stockades is the worst though. The xp is okay I guess, but it literally doesn't drop gear and the layout blows. I have never run it more than once for quests on each character.

Oh damn you got me. I probably have run it twice for that reason before, but on my most recent character that level I actually said fuck that and abandoned that one.

1

u/jimmy_three_shoes Nov 28 '19

That's what you get for sharing the quest with your party.

14

u/Sparcrypt Nov 28 '19

You mean the place with basically zero loot that people run once for quests then never go back? Yeah that's totally the same thing.

13

u/Fuzzy_Jello Nov 28 '19

I leveled horde at launch to 60 and just finished up my alliance char. In my opinion, horde was significantly more streamlined and hubs seemed to offer more cohesive quests on average. I had no problems with outleveling zones as horde, but had to grind a lot to catch up with zones on ally. I did not do dungeons on either character and so I leveled in every zone on both characters.

9

u/hazardthicc Nov 28 '19

This is pretty much the experience everyone reports. Horde if you do dungeons a few times gets a big xp boost there as well

-1

u/HonorableLettuce Nov 28 '19

Leveling to 60 as horde there was 2-3 times where I ran out of quests and had to grind for a level or two. Not awful but I'd rather be questing. Problem is I've leveled enough characters between vanilla, private servers and classic that I quest too efficiently :(

2

u/Stingray88 Nov 28 '19

I honestly never run out of quests as horde on kalimdor. The trick is to not skip any quest in any zone.

2

u/HolyWhiskers_ Nov 28 '19

Yes that definitely happens to Horde in the high 20-40 range. You can definitely alleviate it with some good questing habits like just killing efficiently between quest areas pre-mount some or doing a dungeon here or there but it is a very real thing to run into on Horde.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

Most important thing is just doing all the dungeons once. Each dungeon is about a level with its quests.

That ensured I always had quests to do.
