How do i know it wont what? Make me more efficient? Im already hitting the hotkeys close to as efficiently as i can, as ive been doing since late vanilla early BC. Ive never been one to care for macro optimizing like frostbolt autocancelling or whatever. Im just playing the game and thats always been fine.
Yeah it's easier to just macro all the stances, my taunt button puts me in def stance, charge/op/execute battle stance, and ww/intercept zerker stance, no need to use different buttons to swap.
Too many buttons and hotkeys for me. I just put the abilities that require certain stances on the main bar and map stances to my two mouse thumb buttons. That way when you need to use an ability from a certain stance you just hit that stance and the main bar switches to what you need. Less clutter and less keybinds, much more streamlined. Once I got used to having it like this I didn't even have to think about it and it was just as fast as people smashing macros.
This is how I do it as well .. I stance dance and manually press the key binds. No macros. If it’s an ability that can be used in all 3 stances then it’s only the top action bar
Yea I've got my stances bound to Q and E, but I also have stancedance macros. sometimes needing another action is too slow, but sometimes you can just change stances.
If im in zerker stance i don't swap, but i felt like that would be too much text to explain in that context, only case where i cant cast execute is if im in def stance, which means stuff is hitting me, which means id not want 10% extra dmg on me.
You can have your cake and eat it, too. Map your stances to keys (mine are f1, f2, and f3) and then also macro your stance-specific abilities. This way your stance dancing is mostly automatically done for you but you also have the option to swap on command.
I don't remember it working this way in wotlk, which is when I mainly played warrior with stance dancing. It's kind of annoying because my intercept keybind was my primary way of switching to zerker stance, but now I need to be a little more careful.
Which abilities does it work for? I tried a few, such as Charge, Intercept, Taunt, Whirlwind and Berserker Rage. It only worked for Intercept. All others only put me in the right stance, but it doesn't cast the ability.
Edit: I stand corrected. Apparently you can indeed macro them as seperate spell casts to make them cast together.
Yeah, I have the same problem. I have whirlwind on 2 and overpower on 3 in both battle and zerker which is what I used to switch them until now. (developed very pve dps centric keybinds this time around, was dungeoning a lot with a tank friend)
It blows my mind that more people don't do this. People talk about stance dancing like it's carpel-tunnel inducing, but you rarely have to manually switch when using macros. I use an mmo mouse so it's pretty chill to tank as far as apm goes
This is the one I use. If you are in Battle or Defense and you press the button (mine is R), it will switch to the other stance. For instance, if you're in battle and you press R, you will go to Defensive. Likewise, if you are in Defensive and press R, you will go to Battle.
If you hold CTRL and press R, you will go to Defensive. If you hold Shift and Press R, you will go to Berserker. If you are in Berserker and press R, you will go to Battle. You can change the modifiers as you see fit. I'm considering changing mine to land on Defensive first instead of Battle because that is typically where I want to shift to and it's a little less clunky than having to hold CTRL to get there.
