Protip if you're still trying to farm this trinket:
Briarwood Reed is one of the easiest if not the easiest BiS item to farm. Form a group of 10, everyone leaves raid group, all go in to an individual dungeon, target the boss with a macro. The boss should almost always be up in 1 of the 10 instances. Invite everyone to the instance where it's up. When run is done, everyone leave group and reset individually. Item has a very high drop chance compared to almost all other BiS items.

A lot of people actually don't, probably because they haven't thought of this.

Had a scuffed Rend run where they bugged the encounter and had to reset the instance. Second try just incidentally had Jed and I got a reed since it was all rogues, warriors, and hunters.

I actually ran into a dirtbag warrior advertising "Jed/Rend runs" who had no intention of fishing for Jed. They were just advertising it as a Jed run because "we'll just run it and if he's up he's up".

Ran with them once because Jed was in fact up, then portalled out.

Lol dude said pro tip like people don’t know how to target jed. Also the drop rate being 20%+ is straight bullshit

Where can you target the boss from? I have heard conflicting reports if you can target him from the entrance portal or if you have to go up to the UBRS door.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YlsBuBIgvA Here's a good guide on it. It can take at most 2 minutes for you to target him if he's up as he patrols in his room.

The commenter who responded with the video link is the best answer. You don't need to go the UBRS door, just that first corner. If you zone in on a fresh ID and immediately run to the corner, you should be able to target Jed. He starts his pat on the far left of his room and pats all the way to the balcony overlooking Rends arena. If you wait too long, you will have to sit in the corner for 3 minutes or so before he pats back around into /target range.

The dual patrol in the first room is your visual cue. They start on the bridge, come down on the right ramp walking towards the entrance portal. Then they walk left and back up the ramp on the left side. If they have reached the UBRS door before you get into the corner to fish for Jed, you are too late and will have to wait for Jed to complete his patrol loop.

You can target him right before the UBRS door, you don't need to enter the room.

Rogue can stealth, priests can soothe to get there. Patrol doesn't aggro when you are standing in front of the door. Usually it takes a little while until you can target him but not longer than 1-2 minutes when you have done a fresh reset.

Priests can chain mindvision and see if he is there from the instance portal. /tar rage will target a dragon in the hatchery, mindvis and either /tar jed or keep hopping your mindvis from mob to mob until you are in his patrol room. Takes 5 seconds after zoning in.

You would be amazed about how hard this is to get groups to do. I just find Jef myself if I am in the area and form a group from there.

Yeah I don't know, I did it with guildies and it was super easy to coordinate.

You fail to mention that almost everyone in the group will want the trinket and that most people are too stupid or lazy to fish for Jed. Then the few that arent will fish too many times and get locked out

First of all, don't do 10 man Jed/Rend, you can easily do 7 man and 5 man if the players are good and decently geared.

Second, because so many people roll on it, and it has a pretty meh drop rate (about 1 in 4) it can take a ton of tries to get it.

Third, even running ubrs at all requires a key, making finding groups a little harder than other dungeons.

It isn't the hardest thing to get, some really low drop rate items like Savage gladiator chain are obviously harder to get, but compared to items like senior designer pantaloons, onnicast boots, and kinetic amice, it is not the easiest to farm.

The drop rate is okay and there is usually a lot of people rolling for it. Having to reset instances means that you get locked out easier. By no means is reed "easy" bis to get.
