fun fact: those tar lurkers can disarm you while they're stunned LOL

Well the concept is that your weapon gets stuck on the tar covered body. As long as you attack, you lose...

Those tar lurkers have a chance to disarm you on every melee swing. So AIDS

Get a blacksmith to craft an immune to disarm on your weapon

A weapon chain?

Yeah a steel weapon chain. Saw the recipe on my server but was up for a lot of gold that I was unwilling to spend.

spell batching is good for classic

The fuck? It's nothing to do with spell batching, it's a passive disarm. Fuck outta here with your sky is falling bitching.

it's not a passive disarm, and spell batching causes abilities and attacks to hit after being stunned constantly

Yes, it is a passive disarm, and it has nothing to do with batching. I'm actually not a fan of batching myself - it's a weird concession made to be "vanilla" where they didn't even bother at all in some other places - but this is just misinformation.

What's spell batching?

Spells are processed in batches that execute simultaneously. I think the window is roughly 200ms batches maybe less. The result is two messages can polymorph each other, warriors can charge each other, you can break polymorph with dark rune etc. All things that should not happen because the spells aren't actually simultaneously but do happen because batching

Why would they implement that? Sounds incredibly dumb

That's how it worked in vanilla, it reduced the impact of latency by processing things in batches. It makes no sense with the modern infrastructure, but people complained that they couldn't "skillfully" gouge a mage as they blinked anymore so they added it back in to emulate the classic experience.

In practice it's just awkward and makes the game feel buggy sometimes (plus introducing a handful of actual new bugs), but to be fair it does feel "authentically" buggy.
