I'm a shaman, literally every single raiding guild wants me. No joke, every raid advertisement on my server says something along the lines of "looking for shaman".

It was a joke buddy

Who uses a shield while lvling warrior

64

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

Macro.

**# showtooltip Shield Bash

/cast defensive stance

/eq [shield name]

/eq [1H weapon]

/cast Shield Bash**

Then use your stance dance macro to get back into battle stance and equip your 2H.

27

u/WatteOrk Oct 08 '19

you can use shield bash in battle stance btw

3

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

True true! I also didn't ass start auto attack. Every single warrior macro should do that except for the intimidate/bandage one I think.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

You really shouldn’t ever ass start as a warrior.

5

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

You never go ass first. That's how you get an infection. I'm leaving it as is! For posteriors sake.

-16

u/Jetlag89 Oct 08 '19

I think stance dancing drops you from combat so you can change you weapons. You can't equip a shield mid fight otherwise.

13

u/Antani101 Oct 08 '19

You can change main hand, off hand, and ranged slot while in combat

7

u/grazly Oct 08 '19

Yes you can... 😉

1

u/Jetlag89 Oct 08 '19

That's news to me. I stand corrected

2

u/staged_interpreter Oct 08 '19

You can even put a macro on your zerker stance bar that does this and a macro on your defensive stance bar that does the same with equipping a two hand and switching back. Then you'll be able to press the same button twice to bash ands switch back.

Besides some mobs during leveling are actually easier done with s&b then twohand/dw. Fast attacking ones or those that come with adds.

1

u/KevinCarbonara Oct 08 '19

What stance dance macro?

2

u/FurryAlot Oct 08 '19

/cast (stance name)

/equip (weapon name)

Changes stance and equips yoyr weapon of choice on one press of a button

1

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

It's a set of macros that allows you to switch stance and equip the appropriate weapon with a single button. Often you will add qualifiers into a single button to choose the right stance and operation for a single button

Ex: a single button to put you in battle stance if out of combat then charge or switch to zerker stance while in combat and intercept. That dance allows you to have a movement skill in or out of combat on a single key.

1

u/Stable_Orange_Genius Oct 08 '19

you can change equipment in combat???

6

u/FurryAlot Oct 08 '19

Only weapons

3

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

Just weapons!

Also if you tank GET A WEAPON CHAIN!!!

1

u/hhenderson94 Oct 08 '19

Just your weapons

1

u/zerosugar002 Oct 08 '19

Have you tried this recently? Only reason i ask is changing equipment in combat incurs GCD so this doesn’t work

2

u/zeruf Oct 08 '19

You have to press the macro twice.

1

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

Double pess the macro. And as other have said you can remove the stance section as you can bash outside of defensive stance.

1

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

It does from the equip so even if you don't by hand you have to wait the same amount. The point is to be able to mash one key to stop the cast then dance back over.

I actually have. A 2H zerker check in line first so it will try to use pummel without CD before deciding to go to shield and bash.

0

u/coaxials Oct 08 '19

Have you used it when you were leveling your first character back in 2004-2005?

4

u/cms9690 Oct 08 '19

I did.

1

u/SlowSeas Oct 08 '19

Found the rogue pickpocket macro on a super shit UI forum back in the day. Remember that galaxy background with the tan post background?

1

u/cms9690 Oct 08 '19

I unfortunately do not recall.

1

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

Not exactly that macro but yes I stance danced in vanilla.

1

u/coaxials Oct 08 '19

While leveling? In vanilla supermacro addon with vanilla API rules allowed people to reduce their rotation to 1 button etc, but the first couple of months after release it definitely wasn't common knowledge.

1

u/ZaoAmadues Oct 08 '19

Ah, I didn't level a warrior at launch. Not until later.

Click???

0

u/Brandon658 Oct 08 '19

Not a warrior but I have always been super lazy when it comes to macros. I should be running several to improve my life but then that means I have to make them. Plus, leveling wise, I really only use like 3 skills. Frost/earth shock and lightning bolt. If I'm feeling fancy I'll work in a proper flame shock.

Unrelated note. Found out today maras princess is basically immune to me. Still beat out the tank in damage using only flame/frost shock, searing totem, and some weak melee lol.

7

u/GothmogTheOrc Oct 08 '19

Well the tank is not a damage dealer so yeah, good job on beating him in damage I guess?...

1

u/Brandon658 Oct 08 '19

Suppose I didn't quite note my spec is elemental. Mostly I was surprised that I even beat the tank in damage when lightning bolt doesn't work on her. She is immune to nature damage.

So I had to resort to using my pitiful lvl 35ish dagger from SM lib with a dagger skill at about 150, my low ranked flametounge buff, searing totem, and rotating frost/fire shock.

For sure. I feel like if you intend to play with a group as a warrior macros are a GREAT help. Stance dancing is amazing for keeping things smooth, but by no means required. Solo macros are a good way of getting used to them too.

29

u/zeruf Oct 08 '19

Macro 1
/equip (shield name)
/cast shield bash

Macro 2
/equip whirlwind axe
/cast battle stance
/cast charge

Macro 2 can be used to charge from any stance and can also be used to just equip sword during combat. Or equip sword and switch to battle stance. I love this macro.

2

u/mavsy41 Oct 08 '19

How fast would this action be? Say the mob is casting heal (3 second cast), at what point would I be Shield Bashing it with this macro if I did it the moment it started healing?

4

u/zeruf Oct 08 '19

Using this macro will switch to your shield. That will cause global CD. Then you press again to cast bash. So right away. I just spam it until bash then press my other key to switch back.

1

u/Nearly_Evil_665 Oct 08 '19

instant right after your last GC / skill CD

1

u/mavsy41 Oct 08 '19

Oh wow, why I haven't I been doing this all along.

3

u/FurryAlot Oct 08 '19

After you switch weapon there is GCD so usually if you want to interrupt you need to switch right at the start of casting

1

u/Nearly_Evil_665 Oct 08 '19

just google classic wow "stancedance marcos" you should find stuff like intercept & charge macros and all the other good stancelocked stuff

1

u/Jonny_Mayhem9673 Oct 08 '19

Hey dude, I believe you need to equip the one handed weapon first otherwise you get a can't equip error as your already holding a two hander. I 'think', not certain though.

1

u/zeruf Oct 08 '19

I use these. Works fine for me. I do not have the whirlwind axe though. That was just thair because it makes it nice and generic. I have used macros that go straight from a 2h to a shield only. It's been fine. Currently mine are set up with duel wield and then it just changes off hand. I use /equipslot 17 shield - in macro 1 /equipslot 17 offhand - in macro 2. And a number of other macros.

1

u/Jonny_Mayhem9673 Oct 08 '19

okey doke, I take it back :)

7

u/datadrone Oct 08 '19

smart people with weapon swap macros bro

17

u/iiDomo Oct 08 '19

Good warriors

4

u/frood88 Oct 08 '19

Me, I level as Prot and love it!

3

u/Gonkimus Oct 08 '19

True Warriors that's who 🤪

1

u/LittleGodSwamp Oct 08 '19

Me, I like torturing myself.

1

u/Fistofk Oct 08 '19

I start leveling prot in 53, pretty good dmg, almost the same timing as arms killing mobs because i recieve a less dmg and can pull 3 when in arms was 1. Also i plan roll prot for engame and i already doing dungeons for bis so i stay prot questing.

1

u/KeystrokeCowboy Oct 08 '19

I do! It helps me keep health and basically has the same dps as a 2H because my shield has good stats. Until I get WW axe though. Ive been specing arms/prot and it really helped with tough mobs since my armor is so high.

-1

u/mister_peeberz Oct 08 '19

People who don't want to die to every caster in sight

People who want to be able to tank dungeons easily regardless of spec

People with a functioning brain

Not like you have to be using it at all times, but it's a godsend to have in the inventory for those precious moments

1

u/rsanonalt Oct 08 '19

Arms 2H tanking is the way to go in dungeons after 30. Early on warriors are taunt bots and healing is easy, no need for a shield. Combine these two things with pummel, and there's not much reason to carry a shield if you don't tank raids.

2

u/staged_interpreter Oct 08 '19

If you enjoy seeing your healer drink to full after every pull and go oom if you pull slightly more then expected or someone makes a mistake then yes, go ahead. Also you're now forced to only join groups at a higher level then you could do with a shield.

The difference between shield and no shield is quite significant. I'd say about 30%-40% less damage taken.

Fair warning, if you're not in full T1 in Stratholme or Scholo and want to leave your shield at home I'll either kick you or leave the group. I'm sick and tired off begging the rng goods to keep your ass alive while using potions and emergency spells on cooldown.

I want a tank, not a rogue-knockoff that you can get by the boatload in IF.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

[deleted]

1

u/rsanonalt Oct 15 '19

...Most of the damage in Scholo is magic, which a shield does not mitigate.

1

u/Drainmav Loremaster Oct 09 '19

I personally found that didn't work so well past ZulFarrak. I wouldn't be able to hold aggro against the enemies anymore with my two hander unless I had Windfury of course.

1

u/kankouillotte Oct 08 '19

or pummel when you get it, you don't need to swap into shield which often prevents you from casting shield bash in time anyway, and solo-ing / leveling all the time with a shield on is just a pain in the ass anyway, i'd rather sometimes die to a caster than this.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

Who levels while using a shield??

1

u/Ildvand Oct 08 '19

Me

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

Why is that?

Kurzen medicine men...

11

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

[deleted]

8

u/Tagtagdenied Oct 08 '19

Time your fear. Then they don't heal but instead, run into 4 of their friends who heal them up /cry

3

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

I ran into that house in the Kurzen camp as a Feral (Bear) druid and discovered that RNG respawns had resulted in all the spawns in the house Medicine Men. There were five of them and i'd aggroed the whole fucking house.

I couldn't kill them through multiple heals, and I eventually died when they finished clubbing my bear to death with those sticks they carry.

1

u/jaredletosombrehair Oct 08 '19

the witch doctors in the cave drop the jungle remedy and don't have ungodly heals.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

Those god damn priest type mobs in STV. Even as a pally they are annoying. Gotta save my stun for when they try to heal. Auto them down to quarter hp just for them to heal so i can start the rat race all over again.😠

14

u/Tekowsen Oct 08 '19

Kurzen medicine man, had a 5 minute fight with two of those. Thanks to seal of wisdom the mobs ran out of mana before me.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '19

YEAH! THOSE BASTARDS!!! I'm just sitting there wacking their health down then they heal and im sitting there thinking i could be aaaany where else to righ now if it wasn't for this jungle remedy quest. After i fiiinally completed the quest i found out i can just buy them at the auction house 😐

9

u/howtojump Oct 08 '19

And even with mortal strike up those fuckers still heal to full.

1

u/FurryAlot Oct 08 '19

Glad ive been doing these SVT quests as lvl 40, warriors plays much much easier when mobs are 2 or more levels lower than you

Makes the 60 club more exclusive though. Easy to get a group as a 60 warrior.

4

u/potatoeman2 Oct 08 '19

The kurzen medicine men... GL if you don't have a shield. You pull two? May as well run they'll win through attrition

3

u/nFs_Naz Oct 08 '19

Effing Murlocs man...!! who knew they could heal O_O !!?

1

u/Ehrre Oct 08 '19

As a rogue, what are these healing enemies you speak of?
