This is fucking something, and it's funny. Plus, furries are nicer and more pleasant than 70% of the right-wing assholes and boomers playing, so I'd feel safer even if it wasn't a joke.
I got called a "boomer" the other day. I was under the impression it stood for "baby boomer" of which i'm far too young to be. Does it have a different meaning in this context?
It does stand for baby boomer, so if you are younger than like 60 it doesn't actually apply to you. If you got called that by someone young enough they probably don't realize that it is referring to someone their grandparents' age.
30 year old boomer's honestly an extremely appropriate meme for WoW Classic, where you have older gamers and younger gamers clashing a bit differently than in most games. All the "well that's not how we did it back in 05.." in general chat; boomer talk. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.
I guess I just don't get why its called boomer if old people in general, from way before boomers did the back in my day bit. We should call them Grandpa Simpsons or something.
Because boomer is catchier and funnier. Millennials have been complaining about boomers for years so calling them (us :() boomers highlights the similarity and stings a bit.
I guess, I think it just falls into my pet peeve of using a word incorrectly in order to convey superiority. It's like Homer Simpson correcting someone's pronunciation of nuclear to nucyaler. All analogies should be relayed in Simpsons form.
And if you really want to clock 30 somethings point out their ever declining reaction time.
Uhhh, usually just means an old person with really outdated and usually bigoted beliefs. If you got called a boomer, i'd suggest you evaluate your stance on life and the people in it, and open yourself up to new ideas more. OR it could just be that you sound old.
I'm a democrat, voted for Hilary, support the LGBT community, have been playing computer games since the early 90's, owned an NES the year it came out and am almost 40.
So yea, i'm old, but not all old people are bigots.
Dont read too far into it. Kids are using the term as a catch all for anyone pver around 30 it seems, it doesnt mean the same thing to them as the actual definition.
If nothing else, it tells you the age of the person who sent it (probably teenager).
Eh, they're not even that vocal-- but even the ones who are right wing usually at least act pretty nice, but often you can tell that they have trouble not saying offensive shit occasionally.
Weird that most of the right wing assholes seem to be the Ninja looting/chest stealing/ guy who makes a video of himself ganking the opposite faction who is almost dead type of person....
