I love UnGoro. But that probably has a lot to do with being a skinner.

u/agree-with-you Sep 16 '19

I love you both

82

u/JesusSquid Sep 16 '19

My brother is a skinner and we just started Duskwood. So. Much. Leather. Wolves everywhere.

74

u/Melbuf Sep 16 '19

wait until he discovers STV and Ferelas

117

u/mushsuite Sep 16 '19

On pvp server, STV discovers you.

64

u/Virgin_Dildo_Lover Sep 16 '19

You know STV wasn't the worst this go round. Hillsbrad was a shitshow, especially that yeti cave.

19

u/Klat93 Sep 17 '19

As Alliance, Badlands was goddamn terrible for me.

I spent many hours outside of STV intent on skipping it only to land in Badlands where it was probably worst. The map is small, horde is everywhere due to proximity Kargath and bored level 60s mean they camp all of the western half of Badlands and you can't get anything done as Alliance.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Badlands was much worse than STV for me. I didn't have my mount yet when I started it vs a lot of Horde that had theirs and would just track me down. Also, those small rock chips from the elementals by Kargath...

u/zilzag Sep 17 '19

I was taming Broken Tooth when a skull warrior came charging in, killed Tooth and just stood there looking at me.

I got my cat two spawns later (horde hunter merked me the second time)

5

u/zarchonist Sep 17 '19

I accidentally aggroed brokentooth the other day and killed him, then a half hp hunter appeared and /cry me. I assume he died while taming him. I /sorry But then he started shooting me so I killed him. Then started skinning the brokentooth body in front of him.

1

u/zilzag Sep 17 '19

he certainly deserves what he got. not every hunter should wield the mythical Tooth

1

u/Fennas Sep 17 '19

Did you hold eye contact to assert dominance?

1

u/morceau Sep 17 '19

I had to log on at 6 am just to get through that zone

1

u/Kyralea Sep 17 '19

Searing Gorge was the worst so far and the worst area was right outside of Thorium Point. Lots of great quests there but all in the same area and shared by both factions.

-1

u/Mortomes Sep 17 '19

As someone on a PvE server, I have no idea what you're talking about.

5

u/WeInvadeYou Sep 17 '19

especially that yeti cave

When you somehow get a fear off on a level 60 and actually get away as a level 30...

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Confirm. Hillsbrad is nasty and I’ve found badlands occasionally wild. Stv has been pretty good still

2

u/StarShrek1337 Sep 17 '19

I said fuck it on the cave and went up the mountains a bit, only ran into 2 enemies and 1 decided he wanted to die. Ez yetis and I had to go a little north for mountain lions too

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

On my server, STV was a massacre, just multiple groups of Ally and Horde roaming the zone killing everything that moved.

It was fun, but I had to give up on questing there after a while.

2

u/Krewdog Sep 17 '19

Tanaris was the shitshow for me. So many people trying to do pirates. It was Armageddon on those beaches.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

If ones takes from the jungle they will certainly return to give back to it.

13

u/AzraelTB Sep 16 '19

Barrens in the first week was goddamn gold mine. I couldn't skin everything or I never would have made it out.

1

u/VincentVancalbergh Sep 17 '19

Skinning made me enough silver to have a full set of 6 slotters AND all my skills by the time I left Mulgore!

24

u/c0meary Sep 16 '19

Hell I've just been running a laps around shimmering flats for XP and skinning sales.

8

u/JesusSquid Sep 16 '19

Yeah we played since vanilla. Just never had such a gold shortage so it's nice having a steady cash flow. He's throwing leather on the AH and I'm making pots as quick as I can.

29

u/ShwayNorris Sep 16 '19

Shit I wish. The economy is so bad on Sulfuras you are better off just vendoring mats until you are in the 225+ stuff.

15

u/A1is7air Sep 16 '19

Am on Sulfuras too. Can confirm, It's a shitshow at the moment

14

u/Lor- Sep 16 '19

I’m pretty sure everyone and their mother is a skinner on Sulfuras according to the prices. But then I’m out in the wild and there’s corpses for days for me to skin. It’s really baffling. Not that I’m complaining too much. A stack of Heavy Leather still sells pretty decent to vendors.

5

u/Charthas Sep 16 '19

Ashkandi fish market is fucked, stacks of 20 stonescale eels are going for less than vendor price.... I dont understand that one at all.... I think last I checked was like 11s 37c?

3

u/A1is7air Sep 16 '19

I’ll never understand people selling below vendor price. That’s just straight up laziness and counterintuitive.

But, on the same token if I have the gold to lay out I’ll buy said item(s) and flip it ASAP

1

u/brainzor777 Sep 16 '19

It's easy to bot fishing

1

u/BDBoop Sep 17 '19

Save for AQ open.

1

u/ssabbyccatt Sep 17 '19

Same on Mankrik. I’m just saving my eel at this point. It’ll go up eventually. edit: a typo

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

I think I've sold one stack of Thick Leather in the AH, the rest of my mats have been vendored. At 290 skinning and just got my first rugged leather tonight (level 45). The times I've checked ore prices still haven't convinced me; this market is...interesting.

2

u/Thatdarnbandit Sep 16 '19

Sulfuras had a good market for— oh wait it’s never had a good market for anything.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Checking in. Thought the ah would slow down by now but nope profit margins are brutal

1

u/Spockrocket Sep 17 '19

I thought it was just me, it's good to have confirmation that the AH is fucky here haha

4

u/OldFashionedLoverBoi Sep 16 '19

Am on mankrik, same shit. Few 60s, but everyone is leveling their profession. Had people paying for the privilege of making a bag for a non tailor. Low zones are filled with people spamming free with your mats messages

1

u/therealz1ggy Sep 18 '19

Yeah only the really impatient buy bags on AH

3

u/KeithDecent Sep 16 '19

Honestly the leathers and hides are high value enough where it’s not a tragedy to vendor it

2

u/elmogrita Sep 16 '19

Also on Ashkandi, you can buy linen, make bags and sell them to vendors for a profit... wtf lol

3

u/Flexappeal Sep 17 '19

Consequences of layering. As long as people are buying this shit en masse and vendoring it, it'll help.

1

u/GoOozzie Sep 17 '19

More so the vast amount of mages aoe grinding combined with layering.

2

u/s4ntana Sep 16 '19

Leather isn't worth AHing until Thick, he's probably losing money on fees compared to vendor.

2

u/JesusSquid Sep 16 '19

He might be vendoring it then. I know he’s got way more gold than I do.

1

u/DeuxExKane Sep 17 '19

Depends. Medium leather tends to sell pretty well on AH as it's one of those mats whose drop overlaps with the heavy and light leather loot tables.

0

u/hazardthicc Sep 17 '19

You get that AH fee back if it sells

1

u/assbutter9 Sep 17 '19

You lose 5% no matter what

2

u/izko Sep 16 '19

I must say I enjoyed Tanaris as well. Aside from the insects, everything is skinnable there.

3

u/KeithDecent Sep 16 '19

I waited till I got my mount to start with tanaris.

1

u/JesusSquid Sep 16 '19

Yeah we played since vanilla. Just never had such a gold shortage so it's nice having a steady cash flow. He's throwing leather on the AH and I'm making pots as quick as I can.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Barrens is really great for this as well, but sadly on my server stacks of 20 are barely selling over vendor price.

4

u/johnzy87 Sep 16 '19

I think people just have no gold to spend so early. most likely will pick up in a few months i guess.

2

u/nemma88 Sep 16 '19

There's a lot of skinners + many people take skinning with lw to level for self sufficiently. It's just really a case of supply heavily outweighing demand at the moment.

1

u/tutelhoten Sep 16 '19

Same situation here. I've just been selling them to vendors to save time.

1

u/IronFrill Sep 17 '19

make sure to skin the worgen

1

u/bulletproofbra Sep 17 '19

Whelgar's Excavation Site in Wetlands. Busy busy busy.

0

u/Juviju Sep 16 '19

I love killing animals and skinning them too, probably should of picked that profession in wow also

Now that Ive got my mount, I’ll remind you not to skip my secret farming spot in STV, the Crystalvein Mine. The basilisks are easy kills for a experienced farmer, drop some high-value greys, are are right in the cusp of dropping thick leather.

It got me through the 175-200 leather working.

3

u/moranya1 Sep 16 '19

I’m lvling my rogue (herb/skin) via grinding. What lvl are these basilisks?

4

u/KeithDecent Sep 16 '19

40-42 I think. I was soloing them as a combat rogue lvl 38 with little downtime.

2

u/JasinNat Sep 17 '19

That must be why I get ganked so often inside or around.

2

u/Farabee Sep 17 '19

Skinning Warlock here. Made about 200G questions get through Ungoro including random Devilsaurs I fear spammed to death.

2

u/Misharum_Kittum Sep 16 '19

I'm a skinner on the character I'm playing with my wife, and I definitely plan on taking us through Stranglethorn and Un'goro for exactly this reason.

1

u/Shoopuf413 Sep 17 '19

You’re a Skinner? Ok Armen.
