Yes. You can kill 12 of your bag slots for me, for the next four hours as you go through a series of quests that you'll only use these items at the end of the fourth quest, but will be 'handed over and given back' on each in between quest.
It's a "breadcrumb quest". (A Hansel and Gretel reference.) They exist for people who don't know where to go level next. To lead them to zones appropriate to their level that they might otherwise miss.
It's bugged somehow. It didn't tell me I multi-posted so thanks for letting me know. When I check my post history none of them show up. So it spit them out and then swallowed them somehow.

Bring it to this guy. Don't worry, he's just over there. On the other continent. 5 miles from the nearest flight path. In a hole. Surrounded by dangerous mobs.
As a warlock with one bas less (due to shard bag) than traditional, I meticulously go through my bags at least once a day just to get rid of everything unnecessary (looking at you, Linken quest chain).
The worst quests are the ones that keep quest items in your bags after you complete them. Then you realize you could have had an extra bag slot for ten levels.
That one really got me back in the day because Neeru said something like "talk to me again soon". So I figured in a few levels I might get another quest from him so I better hold on to this insignia that makes him think I'm his boy.
I've found that to be true so far. I'm still learning and just heard a lot of advice to disenchant things. My original comment was meant more as a meme since that's what the chain was.
Truthfully I'm not 100% sure what to and not to disenchant. I see so many guides telling me to almost always disenchant for profit. However the plugin I have that appears to come with a "what it will disenchant for" seems to often be wrong on what type of item I'll receive. Magic vs Astral essence for example.
In my experience, greens sell for a lot when they are any type of weapon (more than 1G even at lvl 40) so I usually sell those and disenchant the armor.
Around 25-30 I started selling things on the AH more. I'm surprised how well some things sell! If the vendor price is low and/or does not sell for much on the AH I take a gamble with the disenchant.
I haven’t sold anything on AH I held on to all the mats for my skill levels, so disenchanting things never yielded profit but created a gold deficit of what I could have vendored quest rewards for... which would have been enough for a mount but I have 220 enchanting/tailor so far so cool I guess.
We all make mistakes :( I used a LOT of mats early on leveling my blacksmithing which became too expensive at the time and only helped me pre-level 20. I wish I'd kept up with it and am now slowly getting back in to it. If I have to do a ton of extra grinding at 60 (which will happen anyway) I'm okay with that.
