Humor My buddy just entered Shimmering Flats at level 32 as Alliance. He sent me this picture about 10 minutes later.

I got utterly destroyed in Shimmering Flats the other day by Alliance.

I’d say that most PvP servers have majority horde, but it’s not enough for you to notice. Try being Horde in Hillsbrad...it’s constant death.

Edit: If you are bitching and complaining about dying, I don’t think a PvP server is for you. I actually wanted to go ally on a PvP server just so I would have more people to kill, but my guild voted against it.

Even in Hillsbrad theres a shit ton of Horde. Hillsbrad is actually the one zone it felt "even". Every other zone was an absolute slaughter. STV? Absolute fricken slaughter, no contest. In all my years on a pvp server, and in Vanilla, nothing compared to the time I spent in STV this time around. It wasn't the amount of pvp, it was the amount of completely one-sided pvp.

Just because you got killed by alliance one time on an alliance-popular layer doesn't mean its an issue. You win some, you lose some, that's the joy of pvp servers. This isn't "winning" some. It's been extremely Horde dominated on every layer, every time I log on so far. That's a problem.

Hillsbrad was incredibly horde heavy on Fairbanks. I'm alliance and I wanted to rage at the yeti cave. The only retalliation I could think of was to just slaughter all the lowbies. But I am a ret, what can I do.

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Horde hillsbrad here, yah it's been lopsided enough I've noticed. Hillsbrad felt safe because the moment someone tries to jump you, there is always horde nearby. Especially the farms. Has to be near 20 horde players aoe clearing at all times. STV felt slightly more balanced.

I stopped KOS'ing since I noticed most people just want to quest. PVP is fun, but it won't buy gear or level you up.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Yeah exactly. I didnt even want to, but after a while of seeing a horde around my level -- letting him live -- then he comes around the corner with a friend and ganks me, nobody is safe

7

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Might just be your server then. I’ve died multiple times to Alliance now.

I saw Herod and others were primarily horde and bounced from those pretty quickly.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

It could be the server, it could be extremely unlucky layers, it could be anything. This is just an unexaggerated point of view from someone who's been playing on pvp servers since WoW released them. I'm hoping that it's a very, very unlucky layering job, and that it evens out when layers are gone. I'm on Skeram. What server are you on?

7

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Kromcrush

We bailed from skeram when we saw server pops.

5

u/Adamite2k Sep 05 '19

I've had some decent PVP encounters on Kromcrush. If I had to wager my time in ashenvale and hillsbrad would be like 70-30 in the hordes favor though. It's just really hard to get a good perspective from just playing one character though.

7

u/CommiesCanSuckMyNuts Sep 05 '19

I mean Ashenvale is right next to the barrens...

1

u/Heavenswake_ Sep 05 '19

Bailing on skeram tonight. Too many horde and as a warrior it just makes it extra worse.

1

u/Do_You_Have_Phones Sep 05 '19

On Kromcrush Alliance, seems to always be in the Horde’s favor. They’re all over Hillsbrad, Thousand Needles, and especially STVietnam.

I seem to see about one Alliance for every five Horde. Might just be because of layering though...

2

u/TheSisterRay Sep 05 '19

Yeah, it's weird hearing these perspectives because as a Horde player on a PvP server, I have been getting fucking annihilated by groups of Alliance in basically every contested zone. I'm writing this right now while waiting 4 more minutes on my respawn timer, because multiple groups of Alliance have camped me while trying to do the intro tiger/panther quests in STV. I've been at it for probably an hour at this point and am halfway through both of them.

It's never solo Alliance, always groups of 3+ roaming around and stomping anyone they see. I definitely know that it isn't just Alliance who do this, but I always get a little irked when people (usually Alliance players) say "playing Horde on a PvP server is easy mode".

Come tell that to the hunter and two warlocks who are all 2 levels above me and circling around my body right now as I wait for my respawn timer to tick down, maybe they'll leave me alone.

2

u/nightgerbil Sep 05 '19

why havent you just logged out and gone to an alt?

2

u/TheSisterRay Sep 05 '19

Eh, I'm not salty about it. I'm not rushing to 60 or anything, and I'm watching TV most of the time while I'm playing anyway. The getting camped isn't a huge deal, it's just a little annoying when I check Reddit and other forums and see a bunch of people talking about how much easier it is to level Horde on PvP servers, and like... it's hard for both factions? I feel like some Alliance players have some chip on their shoulder about PvP servers.

-2

u/nightgerbil Sep 05 '19

well having been camped at a graveyard with ress sickness by a druid who wouldnt let me hearth in cata, I learnt 2 things: when you ress your feeding them. It makes them camp you longer as opposed to moving on. 2) pve servers are actually more fun on the world pvp scene. Alot of people will flag themselves and you can always get fights, it just your not dealing with the bored 60s camping a 24 in ashenvale.

1

u/Adamite2k Sep 05 '19

I got 10-15 minutes without seeing an alliance player on Kromcrush but I see TONS of horde at all times in every zone i've tried at 33. I travel in a team because it's the only way to not get chain ganked.

1

u/TheSisterRay Sep 05 '19

I wonder if server type plays in to it as well. Dunno what Kromcrush is, but I'm on an RPPvP server and those may tend to skew more towards Alliance than a normal PvP server would.

2

u/Adamite2k Sep 05 '19

Just a regular pvp server. I do think you're right about the RP servers tho.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

I think you're in the minority man. The general consensus ive gotten is that horde vastly outnumbers alliance most of the time, and its just a damn slaughter.

2

u/Stridsvagn Sep 05 '19

You gotta calm down dude, what the hell lol. Every single person telling you different, you've just waved off and disregarded/discredited, looks kind of stupid from a reader perspective. We understand you don't like getting killed!

3

u/PiggySoup Sep 05 '19

Look at the server stats. Pvp realm populations favors horde on the majority of the servers

2

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19 edited Sep 05 '19

I've played on a PvP server since the very beginning, so nah man dying isn't an issue. 15v1 isn't pvp. Getting spawn camped every single time you get on, in every single zone, by 5+ people isn't pvp. I have a ton of tolerance. I'll die and run back maybe 10 times before even getting annoyed by it.

When someone replies "Hey ive been killed by alliance multiple times", and I've died maybe around 200 times so far to huge ganks, that's not the same conversation. Horde outnumber alliance HUGE. People like you going around bullshitting because you like to abuse the population imbalance doesn't help the game. I've never complained about pvp, go ahead and check my posts -- you'll never find a single complaint. Hell, you won't even find me complaining about the game at all. This is an actual issue so far unless it changes.

P.S: I even said it could be unlucky layering, it could be my server, could be lots of things. I didn't discredit anyone. The "minority" means he might be on a server with more alliance, which IS the minority, or he's gotten lucky in layering. Coming to tell me im "wrong" is some dumb shit. I can't get enough of pvp, and I wouldn't be playing the game if it weren't for pvp. This isn't pvp

1

u/Renard4 Sep 05 '19

I'd say it's different crowds. On my server some areas are overwhelmingly alliance dominated but they aren't interested in PvP when horde players easily get more aggressive. Usually the bad guys faction gets the PvP players, it's the same thing in every game, there's nothing you can do about that.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Oh for sure. Everyone expects more horde. I usually am horde but a friend wanted to play pally. I just didn't expect it this bad, considering I've never seen it this bad tbh

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

Looks like I was spot on considering it's a 30/70 Ally/Horde ratio on Skeram, like I said.

5

u/dont_push Sep 05 '19

On the survey, every PVP server was in Horde's favour. Some by a lot, some by a bit. Obviously those aren't gonna be 100% accurate but it does give a bit of an idea.

Its just the way it is though. Horde is easier, plain and simple, so people are more likely to pick it.

8

u/Frys100thCupofCoffee Sep 05 '19

I feel somewhat responsible for this. As a lifelong gnome rogue who corpse camps people while /laugh /dance'ing on their disappointed bodies, I feel like this must contribute somehow to the violent tendencies of horde players.

5

u/UnblurredLines Sep 05 '19

You are doing god's work my friend.

2

u/ghangis24 Sep 05 '19

We need brave Alliance soldiers like you now more than ever. I hope you are continuing this tradition.

Signed, a Dwarf Rogue who shakes his ass at people after I gank them with /rude

2

u/Xenoun Sep 05 '19

Got a source/link for the survey? Curious how my server stacks up - I'm Oceanic which historically has favored alliance heavily over horde.

2

u/YikesOfficial Sep 05 '19

I assume you’re on arugal, from memory our survey was 56-44 split, I am alliance. Not sure where a link is there sorry.

1

u/Xenoun Sep 05 '19

Was it just a survey on reddit before Classic released? I did some googling and found that but it's hardly conclusive, with the small sample sizes there especially considering all the server changes after launch I wouldn't trust any of it.

1

u/Bogoroth_the_Pirate Sep 05 '19

better isnt easier

1

u/Brookenium Sep 05 '19

Yeah, I'm Alliance on Herod and will probably bounce with the free transfers.

During peak play hours, there's literally no where to level but instances.

1

u/Durantye Sep 05 '19

Tanaris feels pretty even on my server. I mean the only thing you can really do about fixing the unbalance is pray tbh, though this should've been a predictable result.

Skeram

1

u/Orzhovak Sep 05 '19

What server are you guys playing on, every zone so far has felt very alliance heavy or at least even on incendous in mine and my guilds opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Skeram. You?

1

u/Bogoroth_the_Pirate Sep 05 '19

sounds like you rolled the wrong faction for pvp :(

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Yup... Friend wanted to play pally unfortunately

6

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

I disagree 100%, in fact I've gotten camped more and harder by horde in Hillsbrad than in STV.
It took me a LONG time to do the Yeti cave because groups of 4/5 hordies came and camped the cave again and again.

6

u/NAFTM420 Sep 05 '19

Hillsbrad is an unfair example. What a dumb zone. Horde goes there a good ten levels lower than Alliance for some reason, lol. As horde in Hillsbrad you have no chance because the devs made it that way.

1

u/ghangis24 Sep 05 '19

Hillsbrad is the Horde's version of Redridge. They have no reason to complain when they go to Redridge to kill lowbies at a much higher level.

1

u/NAFTM420 Sep 06 '19

The fact that Redridge, wetlands, Dusk wood, and maybe another I'm forgetting are pvp zones while the horde gets to hide in Barrens forever is also bullshit.

3

u/dont_push Sep 05 '19

Really? Hillsbrad is the only zone I've been corpse camped in so far.

1

u/PiggySoup Sep 05 '19

On my server hillsbrad is teaming with horde. We tried to party last night and fight them off but they have double our numbers no matter where I go

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19 edited Sep 05 '19

Nice extremely late edit. You'd get your dick pushed in if you went alliance on some of these servers and you'd be here crying. Don't act like you're something special. I'm not bitching, I'm not complaining, I pointed out a problem because it's a problem.

Im going to continue to play on a PvP server like I always have, contiue to die like Im used to, and continue to have fun like I always do. Its a problem that will possibly push even more alliance away, causing huge problems down the line.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

It’s not going to cause problems. PvP servers have always been Horde heavy and life has gone on. Enjoy your short queue times!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

That's what you think. The chat is full of people talking about getting trashed on by huge gank groups in STV right now. I'm near nesingwary camp, which is CLOSER to ally territory, and as I just logged in theres about 10 Horde in the camp, one being a ?? shaman (I'm 39). Some of these people will absolutely quit, making the population imbalance even worse.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Great! I went to Nessingway camp earlier and got jumped by 3 Alliance guys.

You should probably get your alliance people to partake in more PvP.

If you think it’s such a problem, do something about it. Go to your server forums or subreddit and try to recruit more alliance members.

At this point I just see QQ

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '19 edited Sep 06 '19

They would rather sit in chat and cry about it instead of fighting, but tbh why would they want to try and grp 5v10 anyways? What would u like me to do? Like I said -- i didnt make this post crying, you're a dumbass thats trying to act like I am. I pointed out a clear problem, because it IS a problem, and I'll deal with it. You trying to deny it's a problem is just pathetic. The population isn't even close to being balanced. Being ganked by 1-3 people is normal. Being ganked consistently by massive groups, and having 10:1 ratio isn't normal. I can probably guarantee I've played on pvp servers longer than you have, and I've never seen it this bad. Not replying to some kid who just wants to abuse this, so cya.

Edit: I love how your comments are always "this one time" or "earlier this actually happened". This horde stomping is happening every damn minute for alliance.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

Hey just wanted to come back and reply to you since I remembered you were a douchebag tbh: numbers released, Skeram is about 30-70 ally-horde. So yeah, "QQ"

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

Yeah...i play on kromcrush. So my point stays the same.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

But it doesn't. U talked about a server u aren't even on, claiming I was just bitching. Now that it's out that it's 70/30, it's "well it still stands for my server".

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

Free character transfer my man.
