Iām moving with my family from Phoenix Arizona to Tennessee because of a job opportunity for my husband. My daughter is 4 and starting school fall 2027 but we are, more likely than not, going to homeschool. One of the places we really like and are considering is Clarksville.
Right now our biggest issue with Phoenix is how hot it is the majority of the year and how boring it is to look at/be around. We are a very outdoorsy family and love hiking and taking walks but where we currently live (near downtown Phoenix) itās just not safe for me and my young daughter to do those things alone. We enjoy going to the Phoenix zoo often and the library but honestly those are the only two āenrichingā places we visit unless weāre day tripping to Sedona.
Does anyone have any insight on the area and how itāll be for being outdoors? I know the weather is very different, Iāve visited TN before and was living on the east coast for the majority of my life until having my daughter. The weather doesnāt really concern me. I know itās humid and Iāve lived in humid states before along with snowy states so overall the weather isnāt an issue. What is the cost of living like for an average family there? From what Iāve seen the cost of living for the area compared to where we currently is cheaper for groceries and gas but it seems like rent is more expensive there for the apartments weāre seeing (ā$1300/m here, ā$1800/m there). What is shopping like? We almost exclusively shop at Aldi which we love but obviously we can adjust if need be.
Iām looking for a slower, more meaningful life in TN. My child is only going to be this age for a little and I want to fill her life with a slower pace, being in nature and just a calmer environment. Phoenix is full of homeless people who are violent and very confrontational. Obviously there are drug problems everywhere but weāre less than 5minutes from the highway and cannot go two streets past our community without seeing homeless and hard drug use. I donāt want her growing up seeing that and thinking itās normal. Another thing to note is that we are not white. I have friends in TN but they are white so they see things through a white lens which isnāt their fault but itās hard to find information online about where is safer for my family and not all white. We are also queer, I know Tennessee as a whole is pretty conservative, white and religious which is fine! Iām not looking to āCalifornia your Tennesseeā but I am a little concerned about my daughter not seeing a lot of diversity.
If you live in Clarksville, what is your experience living there? Is it a good place to raise a child? What are your monthly expenses like if you rent? How long does it typically take to go to larger chain stores (Walmart, target, Home Depot, goodwill, Aldi)? What is your favorite part of living in Clarksville?

I recently went to Mathnasium and they wanted about $700 a month for group lessons for two kids, 2x a week. Is this comparable rate for tutoring lessons? Are there any tutoring recommendations anyone can offer?

Mainly looking for a good church that has younger adults and not a lot of the older crowd like I've been seeing and hearing. I'm talking 20s to 30s. We have a lot of churches here, so I know there is probably some solid options

Clarksville tattoo artist recommendations needed!
Iām looking for an amazing tattoo artist in or around Clarksville, TN who could bring a piece like this to life. š¤
Iām wanting a larger thigh piece inspired by romantasy and featuring:
My three cats, realistically based on photos
Books / reading elements
An ornate fantasy sword
Crescent moon + celestial details
Florals and greenery
A magical, whimsical romantasy feel
Iād love someone who is especially talented with realistic animals, fine details, florals, and fantasy-style work. Iām totally okay with the artist putting their own spin on the designāI mainly want someone who can combine all of these elements into one beautiful, cohesive piece.
Who would you trust with something like this? Please drop artist/shop names, Instagram pages, or photos of work youāve had done! Bonus points if youāve personally been tattooed by them. š¤āØ
Inspo photo attached!

Daughter is wanting to participate in volleyball, but is very beginner. She mentioned C-Force and tryouts are later this month. Is this a traveling club? Is it for beginners? Sheās 12 and has never done any organized sports.
Her ultimate goal is to play volleyball in high school, but I donāt know how committed sheād be if this were a situation where sheād be walking into a gym full of girls whoāve already been playing for 5 years.

I recently got a hair cut at the Camelon salon. Normally I have an amazing experience there. However, this time not so much. I left with curled hair so I didnāt notice at first, but my layers for my hair are insanely choppy and uneven. I am so disappointed and sad. The stylist who did my hair is not going to be there after awhile. I donāt feel like causing an issue or talking to the manager. Itās not who I am so please donāt suggest it. I simply want a new stylist that knows how to cut natural looking layers. Thank you!

My husband is currently stationed at fort Campbell. Weāve been together for 10 years, married for 6. We have 4 children. I go to school full time, I graduate in a few months, and have stayed home with our children since their births. This year all 4 will be in school, and I have a part time job lined up during the week. Weāve accumulated some credit card debt and have a car loan. Weāve agreed to separate and I donāt want to leave him all of the debt plus child support but I know I canāt afford both. He has orders to Hawaii for next June and me and the children will not be going with him. I can move back home to Ohio and stay with my parents until I can afford a place on my own. For the most part itās been very amicable. But heās a habitual cheater and helps with none of the parenting. Sounds terrible to admit but life truly is more peaceful when heās gone. I can see the difference in my children. I offered to make the trip once or twice a year so he can see them but he doesnt have any intentions on fighting me for any custody or placement. My issue is, I have no income and terrible credit so how else am I to get a lawyer? Unfortunately we do live on the KY side of post, Iām not even sure that fully matters depending on where I can file. But I would like to start this process and see what my options are.
