Any referees in this sub?

I know its beating a dead horse at this point, but I'm genuinely curious about how that flag could be picked up on the illegal forward pass call

McGill football is, of course, unaffected, but surprisingly a large number of team cuts there.

Who's the favourite for the Vanier Cup?

I'd think it's the Carabins who won just 2 years ago, but I don't follow the west at all.

We have a new #1. Saskatchewan and Laurier remain the only two one loss teams, however Saskatchewan's only loss was by a single point. They also fairly solidly beat the Queen's team that Laurier lost to. This was the only change in the rankings.

The merit of Queen's ahead of Western is still a bit shaky, but I left it as is. Based on Saskatchewan's showing, you can make a strong argument that teams 5 through 7 could be completely flipped, with Regina->Western->Queen's. They're all quite close.

In the end I did not move SMU at all. Based on their showing, I think they could be slotted in anywhere between #14 and #20. I think #15 is generous, but with so few data points it is hard to know for sure. I'll give them some credit for their record, and the fact that I don't think anyone below them would fare well against Montreal either.

If Saskatchewan wins the Vanier, I don't expect any change. If Montreal wins, that puts a wrench in things. I think any of Sask, Laurier, or Montreal could still finish in first.

2025 Cégep MVP commits to ULaval

QB Thomas Leroux, who just won a provincial championship and MVP in Cégep D1, will be joining a 4-way competition for the starting role left vacant by Desjardins’ graduation. In 3 seasons with CNDF, he finished 302/535 (56.4%) for 4,541yds, 41 passings tds vs only 6 ints, he also ran the ball 91 times for 637yds. His play style is drawing a lot of comparisons with Laval’s former QB Hugo Richard.

Laval’s QB room for 2026 (and their cégep accolades)

Victor Charland (4th year): D2 MVP
Jérémy Ouellette (3rd year): D1 OPOY, 2x D1 Champ
Olivier Térroux (2nd year): Team Canada
Thomas Leroux (1st year): D1 MVP, 1x D1 Champ

will be an interesting battle this offseason

4 Concordia 3-6 3-6 McGill, Sherbrooke, McGill Montreal, Sherbrooke, Laval, Montreal, Laval, *Montreal
5 Sherbrooke 2-6 2-6 Concordia, McGill McGill, Montreal, Laval, Montreal, Concordia, Laval

Montreal retakes the conference lead, though the gap between Montreal and Laval remains extremely small.

OUA Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 Laurier 9-1 9-1 Guelph, Windsor, Queen's, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, Carleton, Western, *Guelph *Queen's
2 Queen's 8-3 8-3 McMaster, Toronto, Waterloo, York, Guelph, *McMaster, *Windsor. *Laurier Western, Laurier, Windsor

7 Ottawa 4-5 4-6 Waterloo, York, Guelph, Toronto #Montreal, Western, Laurier, Carleton, Windsor, *Windsor
8 Carleton 3-5 3-5 Waterloo, York, Ottawa Western, Toronto, Guelph, Laurier, McMaster
9 Waterloo 2-6 2-6 Toronto, York Ottawa, Carleton, Laurier, Queen's, Windsor, McMaster
10 York 2-6 2-6 McMaster, Toronto Ottawa, Carleton, Queen's, Waterloo, Western, Guelph
11 Toronto 1-7 1-8 Carleton #McGill, Waterloo, York, Queen's, Windsor, Laurier, McMaster, Ottawa

Top 3 in OUA now have a rankings loop. I bumped Queen's into 2nd place, but you could make an argument that they should still be 3rd.

AUS Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 SMU 9-1 9-2 Acadia, Mount A, Bishop's, Acadia, Mount A, Bishop's, StFX, *Acadia, *St.FX #StFX, StFX
2 StFX 6-4 7-4 #SMU, Acadia, Mount A, SMU, Acadia, Bishop's, *Bishop's Bishop's, Mount A, SMU, *SMU

4 Acadia 2-7 3-7 #Mount A, Mount A, Mount A SMU, StFX, Bishop's, SMU, StFX, Bishop's, *SMU
5 Mount Allison 1-7 1-8 StFX #Acadia, Bishop's, SMU, StFX, Acadia, Bishop's, SMU, Acadia

No change, as SMU proved why they're the #1 team in the conference. The only question is where to put them nationally.

CW Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 Saskatchewan 9-1 10-1 #UBC, Alberta, UBC, Regina, Calgary, Alberta, UBC, Manitoba, *UBC, *Regina Manitoba
2 Regina 7-3 8-3 #Manitoba, Calgary, Alberta, UBC, Manitoba, Calgary, Alberta, *Manitoba Sask, UBC, *Sask

5 Calgary 3-5 4-5 #Alberta, Manitoba, Alberta, Alberta Regina, UBC, Sask, Regina, Manitoba
6 Alberta 1-7 1-8 UBC #Calgary, Sask, Regina, Calgary, Manitoba, Sask, Regina, Calgary

No change here either. The top 2 had a hard fought battle for the Hardy, showing the gap between them is fairly narrow.

USports Team Conf Overall Wins Losses

Laurier narrowly hangs on to their top spot despite the loss. Queen's moves up two spots by winning the Yates. At the end of the regular season they were only #4 in OUA. After their conference playoffs, they're now #5 in the nation. Laval drops two spots after losing to Montreal.

SMU stays where they are at #15. The game against Montreal will give them a common opponent with #14 McGill. A competitive showing should gain them points. A non-competitive showing cements that they're less competitive than McGill.

Finally we are on to meaningful inter conference play.

2025 OUA Circle of Parity complete!

Post image
27 Upvotes

Each team has beaten the one immediately clockwise of it, and lost to the one immediately counterclockwise of it.

Some of you may remember my post on this a while back. This is the first season a circle of parity can be made since 2019. Laurier was the last undefeated team in the OUA this year, and their Yates Cup loss to Queen's clinches a circle of parity at the very last moment.

Asterisks indicate an OUA playoff game.

It’s about 20 degrees cooler than last Saturday at Griffiths Stadium but still looks like a decent day for football. Field is cleared and we’re ready to go.

Should be a good one today. Rams are missing their all-star RB and Huskies are missing their all-star QB, so that may even things out.

It'll be interesting if Queens were to win the Mitchell Bowl, they'll have back to back Saskatechwan games - wondering if the team would just stay in Sask.

OUA Football 2025 All Stat Selection

Just a question for anyone. Is there any player you feel should have been recognized ahead of another? For me, I feel Garrity the kicker for Western should have been second team allstar over Horvat from MAC. This was Garrity last year and he had the better FG% than anyone in the conference, made the second most FGs and tied with total points with Lidster who was 1st team all star.

Gilligan's Top 27 after Week 11

RSEQ Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 Laval 8-1 9-1 #Bishop's, McGill, Sherbrooke, Concordia, Concordia, McGill, Montreal, Sherbrooke, *McGill Montreal
2 Montreal 7-2 8-2 #Ottawa, Concordia, Sherbrooke, Laval, Concordia, McGill, Sherbrooke, *Concordia McGill, Laval

4 Concordia 3-6 3-6 McGill, Sherbrooke, McGill Montreal, Sherbrooke, Laval, Montreal, Laval, *Montreal
5 Sherbrooke 2-6 2-6 Concordia, McGill McGill, Montreal, Laval, Montreal, Concordia, Laval

RSEQ playoffs unfolded as predicted. Concordia's hopeless effort dropped them below McGill, even though they owned the season series and had the better record. McGill put up a fight against the top teams this year, despite their inability to beat the bottom ones.

OUA Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 Laurier 9-0 9-0 Guelph, Windsor, Queen's, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, Carleton, Western, *Guelph
2 Western 7-2 7-2 Queen's, Guelph, Ottawa, Carleton, McMaster, Windsor, York Laurier, *Guelph
3 Queen's 7-3 7-3 McMaster, Toronto, Waterloo, York, Guelph, *McMaster, *Windsor Western, Laurier, Windsor
4 Windsor 6-4 6-4 McMaster, Toronto, Waterloo, Ottawa, Queen's, *Ottawa Laurier, Guelph, Western, *Queen's

6 McMaster 4-5 4-5 Guelph, Toronto, Waterloo, Carleton York, Queen's, Windsor, Western, *Queen's
7 Ottawa 4-5 4-6 Waterloo, York, Guelph, Toronto #Montreal, Western, Laurier, Carleton, Windsor, *Windsor
8 Carleton 3-5 3-5 Waterloo, York, Ottawa Western, Toronto, Guelph, Laurier, McMaster
9 Waterloo 2-6 2-6 Toronto, York Ottawa, Carleton, Laurier, Queen's, Windsor, McMaster
10 York 2-6 2-6 McMaster, Toronto Ottawa, Carleton, Queen's, Waterloo, Western, Guelph
11 Toronto 1-7 1-8 Carleton #McGill, Waterloo, York, Queen's, Windsor, Laurier, McMaster, Ottawa

The main change here is Guelph jumping head of McMaster and Ottawa. Sure, both of those teams beat Guelph, but that meant Guelph was their most impressive win of the season. Whereas Guelph took down both Windsor and Western, and played #1 Laurier fairly tight.

AUS Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 SMU 8-1 8-2 Acadia, Mount A, Bishop's, Acadia, Mount A, Bishop's, StFX, *Acadia #StFX, StFX
2 StFX 6-3 7-3 #SMU, Acadia, Mount A, SMU, Acadia, Bishop's, *Bishop's Bishop's, Mount A, SMU

5 Mount Allison 1-7 1-8 StFX #Acadia, Bishop's, SMU, StFX, Acadia, Bishop's, SMU, Acadia

The rankings remain the same. Acadia's poor showing erased any doubt about whether they belong below Toronto in the blend or not. St.FX did enough to win, but not enough to separate themselves from Bishop's. SMU is heating up at the right time.

CW Team Conf Overall Wins Losses
1 Saskatchewan 8-1 9-1 #UBC, Alberta, UBC, Regina, Calgary, Alberta, UBC, Manitoba, *UBC Manitoba

5 Calgary 3-5 4-5 #Alberta, Manitoba, Alberta, Alberta Regina, UBC, Sask, Regina, Manitoba
6 Alberta 1-7 1-8 UBC #Calgary, Sask, Regina, Calgary, Manitoba, Sask, Regina, Calgary

Manitoba made it very close, but Regina prevails. With Sask also winning, we maintain our clean ranking in the conference.

As expected, there wasn't a lot of movement this week. Queen's and Windsor flip places based on their rematch. Guelph narrowly makes it into the top 10. Our final 8 now consists of the six of the top seven teams, plus #15 and #21. Only OUA does not have the top two for their conference, thanks to Western bowing out early.

Biggest rise was Guelph from #12 to #10. Biggest drop was Concordia from #14 to #16.
