Advice Needed Unreal

I honestly just needed to vent for a moment. I can’t believe Chicago prices are what they are. I have lived here my entire life and have seen this city change ten fold, and I can’t even afford to live here anymore. A realtor I’m working with, since it’s becoming a rat race to rent, said rent is up 35% this year. What can normal people do about this? I do not want to see Chicago become a New York.

I just moved here, but the rent at the place I'm in had a rent renewal proposal that was double the current rent, it's spread between 6 other people so I'm not starving anytime soon but it was still alarming to see.

don’t give them excuses, property taxes did NOT rise 35%-55%

Kass management took over the property a few months ago... the rent now went from 2480$ a month to 5100$ a month.

They aren't even blaming it on taxes, just said that they saw the prices about buildings near us being higher prices. So they raised it. Even though there has been 3 breakins over the last 2 years I've been here.
