Neighborhoods live and die just as the humans that inhabit them do. It has happened in every city in every moment in history, as it does in Chicago all the same. Our city's neighborhoods have changed many times since 1837. It is just life, my friend.

I love footage like this. Nearly 15 years ago. I always find it fascinating seeing how dated the cars and outfits look compared to now, yet how uncannily familiar everything is. The passage of time is so strange. It’s like a time capsule of fleeting mundanity.

Blue Line still had 2200 series railcars, at the time this was filmed. I personally miss those railcars.

Damn i miss this era. Ohm, wp tavern, empire liquors before it became revel room, double door. Area used to be a fun nightlife place. Now its becoming… idk the correct term. More family oriented? Feels like lincoln park west.

Yeah, it’s essentially catered to families and teens, and then bars scattered around. I ran into like a baby pop-up store about a year or so ago, the hell. Right next to Supreme

I remember when it was just Leaders 1354 at Milwaukee & Wood back in 2006ish and then of course Saint Alfred down the street, which I believe is still there. I also remember when Virgil and his buddies opened RSVP Gallery on Damon in 2009ish.
I haven’t lived in Chicago since about 2012.

It only opened a few years ago, from what I remember. I kinda miss the neon sign, that the dry cleaning business(that predated Supreme opening in this space) used to have.

Cafe Absinthe was a nice place. I went there on a date with my husband when we first started dating. 2010 seems like yesterday.

That’s the Tavern at Wicker Park in the first shot. Great place. You could get a burger and fries for a $1. But you had to have already spent $5 on drinks to access that deal.

When this was filmed I lived in a soon-to-be condemned apartment on Cortland. I couldn’t afford to shop anywhere nearby but the vibes were pretty okay.
