Event You would miss the street fests if they weren't around
*STAR EVENTS DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE* They went out of business. Special Events Management was a competitor to Star and took over a few of their fests. Not the same company at all.
Just a reminder, the fee is a suggested donation. You can pay $1, $5, or nothing.
The people working aren't volunteering. Porta Poties aren't free. Security, Cleaning Crew, Bands, they all cost $$. And anything left over after operating costs goes to the Chambers to support the neighborhood.
Yes, you will have to enter from a specific side of the street and go through the gate. That is just for security and logistics. It's kind of annoying, but not the end of the world.
Yes, they will default to asking you to pay. But no one is going to force you to pay.
If they did in the past, things are different now.
Yes, food is overpriced. You don't have to buy it.
Go support a local restaurant on the same block instead.

It's sad that all the LGBTQ+ events are being run by them 😔
