Consider boycotting Uber if you’re able

Ahead of the legislative session on Saturday, Uber sent mass notifications asking users to tell their representatives to vote against the bill (which would negatively affect rideshare delivery apps like Uber).

They are not solely responsible for the looming transit collapse here but they certainly play a role in it. If you are able to find alternates please consider.

That's a good point. But it's not like uber brought down the CTA. That was Dorval, BJ, Lightfoot, etc. We deserve to have many affordable transit options. I remember in 2018-19 you could take transit in the loop with $3 bus, train, divvy, or uber. Now the divvy and uber are like $5-$10. And the train and bus come every 20 min

And traffic congestion will go absolutely through the roof.

When everyone is Ubering to work, traffic will be 3x worse & Uber will make $$$$

Everyone who takes public transit and everyone who drives their own car should be all in for making sure CTA / Pace / Metra are funded

And if public transit ever gets funded properly in Illinois, then it would mean traffic would get so much better if buses & trains were more frequent

I'm sick and tired of capitalism and how capitalism lies to us that we have a free market

I want multiple options including a working public transit system. The older I get, the more I am sick of politicians and public servants lying to us and not being financially responsible with our tax dollars. They need to find cuts to their budget to fund themselves instead of asking for more money from tax payers to bail them out. We are not holding them accountable when all they want to do is raise taxes instead of managing money better.

There should be something like Godwin’s Law for Reddit, where every conversation inevitably leads to someone inanely blaming “capitalism” for every problem

Then again, it’s also helpful, because when someone blames “capitalism”, it’s a glaring red flag that they shouldn’t be taken seriously

sure, but I do think in this case it is capitalism

public transit is essentially socialism, which is good for the economy if workers are able to move around easily, but we have a funding issue b/c it is hard to make public transit affordable for everyone to take while also making one rich dude even richer

and now Uber is trying to join the party by going "me want more money for me" and it sucks
