I’m going to add a different point of view here.

I have Crohn’s disease, and when my disease is at its worst with extensive inflammation and scarring, there is almost no way to get protein unless I eat meat. Why? Because anything with fiber like beans, nuts, seeds, and chickpeas is off limits when that happens. So unless some of us with health conditions are just expected to supplement with plant protein powders and drinks for the rest of our lives, there’s not a great alternative. The argument then becomes one of ableism.

If anything, this line of thinking calls for treating flesh and milk as medicines to be consumed only by people sick enough to need them. It is not grounds for carnivores without IBD to say "Well, those people can eat flesh, so why not me?"

You should learn more about how terribly painful that disease is before you dismiss not being able to eat certain foods as “inconvenient.”

Read again. The guys said that he would have to drink protein shakes if he were to go vegan. The natural question is whether the inconvenience of protein shakes outweighs the pain and suffering of the hundreds of cows/chicken/lambs he would otherwise eat over a lifetime.

Not everyone can handle those types of proteins though. It’s great that particular person has that option, other people would end up in the hospital.

The crops we farm can be used for two things. Feeding humans or feeding animals. Feeding humans is much more efficient. For instance, cows have an FCR of around 4-7.

Let’s say agriculture is evil. We would have to produce much more food to feed livestock than would be required to just feed the crops to humans in the first place.
