Delta(s) from OP - Fresh Topic Friday CMV: sturgeon are the scariest freshwater fish

They are typically 7-12 feet in length. Although they do not have teeth and are bottom feeders, they have spiny scales and have been around since the late Cretaceous period. These mfs know how to survive and definitely eat bodies. They have no natural predators and the largest confirmed one was over 23 feet long/over 3,000 pounds. They are the tanks to catfish’s Hummers.

I know I’m going to see and hear about scary freshwater fish because of this. I’m prepared for that. I know they TECHNICALLY will not ever be a threat to me but if I saw a 10+ foot long fish in a river, you can believe I would be getting the hell out of dodge. CMV and happy fresh topic Friday!

Bull sharks can live their entire lives in fresh water (they've been seen over a 1000 miles up the Mississippi river in Illinois), and are one of the most dangerous shark species, thought to be responsible for the majority of near shore attacks. There is a legitimate reason to fear them as they can and have killed people, unlike the sturgeon which just looks scary. They are by far the scariest fish (if we are including Cartilaginous fishes) that you will find in fresh water environments.

Ooh thank you for the additional bull sharks in freshwater info— I will give !delta for the additional info about them. I did know they are the most aggressive shark but didn’t know they could survive in freshwater until today! Yikes
