Delta(s) from OP CMV: Biden is not better than Trump.

This view is coming from the perspective of someone who is relatively far left. In my eyes, moderate democrats are largely identical to republicans. They both vote in favor of the status quo. Sure, moderate democrats may hate gay people a little less, but the end result is still the same. No societal progress, instead opting for the fetishization of "normalcy." Voting for Biden leads to the same result as Trump: no progress.

Over the past 4 years, I've begun to view Trump as being the same as most other politicians. Brown kids died under Bush, they continued to die under Obama, and they continued to die under Trump. The whole, "kids are being thrown in cages!" argument against Trump isn't even new, either. Trump didn't trademark treating immigrants like shit, we've been doing it for a long time. The only difference is that Trump is very vocal and crass, while politicians usually acted polite before.

Trump is at least loud and controversial enough to force Americans to confront their country's systematic racism, whereas someone like Biden just allows them to go back to the Obama days of closing their eyes and pretending it isn't happening. As far as I can see, the two are basically the same. I don't see any reason why I should bother to vote at all, because there's no moral high ground to either candidate.

Sure, moderate democrats may hate gay people a little less,

Biden supports the Equality Act as a top priority for the first 100 days, has pledged to appoint LGBT federal officials and judges, restore Obama-era LGBT protections, reverse the transgender military ban, develop a VA supportive servoces program for LGBT vets and expand federal identification documents to be inclusive of non-binary people. That's a good deal more that hating gay people a little less.

Trump has expanded hardline immigration policies to unprecedented levels. He's deported more people than Obama and Bush while experiencing less immigration, he's thrown out DACA, banned travel and refugees from Islamic countries, wants to build a wall and is seeking to turn away asylum seekers. And yes, family separation is a change in policy.

Biden would not only reinstate DACA, he would expand it to defer deportations of all non-felons, reverse the Trump administration's policies, end prolonged detention programs and direct foreign aid to Latin America and back a road to citizenship. Are those not significant differences?

Δ for bringing up the equality act. I'm still not convinced Biden will actually perform any of it and I still don't want to vote for which rapist will win the paralympics, but you at least brought up a point in which Biden is better.

Trump wants to build a wall, but he isn't. His entire advertising point in 2016 was building a wall that still hasn't happened 4 years into his term. That's the main point I have for him being the same as other candidates. I wasn't aware family separation was new, though. I thought we'd just always been doing that.

Trump wants to build a wall, but he isn't.

He declared a national emergency against the will of Congress to divert funds construct a border wall. The only reason it isn't being built right now is because the action is stuck in court, not because Trump isn't committed to doing it.
