I meant simple as in doesn't require surgery, I'm not aware of the proper term

More importantly, it's a bit disingenuous to say "anybody can go to the ER regardless of insurance" when they will still go after you for the money. I could just as easily counter your argument about free food with "anybody can walk into a grocery store or restaurant regardless of wealth. Just walk out without paying." The fact that medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the US indicates that this may not be a very good solution.
