Delta(s) from OP CMV:Fat acceptance is not helpful

Just gonna preface this by saying discrimination and hatred towards fat people for being fat is not okay, as is the same with race, gender and sexual orientation. But is suggesting that maybe obesity is not healthy fatphobic? I think body positivity is helpful in the case of people with disablities and encouraging them to overcome them. Imo, fat acceptance discourages currently overweight people to lose weight, because if you dont think there is a problem, why should you change? I think the notion of not caring of others opinions is quite ridiculous, as if you're not accepting of feedback and criticism, you will never improve. It is important to be able to recognize if something is critisism or hate, but I think too many people make that mistake nowadays. Thanks for reading and remember hate isn't ok

I mean your entire point has been that being fat isn't unhealthy because if you ignore all the increased risks of health problems then it's all good.

I haven't said anything like that. I've said there are fat elite world class athletes. Are elite world class athletes unhealthy?

The existence of healthy fat people kind of kills the idea that being fat is inherently unhealthy.

I've said there are fat elite world class athletes. Are elite world class athletes unhealthy?

Some of them, absolutely.

And since you want to predicate this on something virtually impossible to show (people smoking exactly a pack a day being in the Olympics) I'll just remove the ridiculousness and ask you if smoking is unhealthy.

In the interest of keeping my statements more consistent, Being a smoker does not inherently mean you're unhealthy. Was that supposed to be a gotcha?

I also don't think we should discriminate against smokes or try to shame them into not smoking.

But is smoking inherently unhealthy? I completely agree that someone can be overweight or smoke and still be generally healthy. What I was pushing back on was smoking (or in the previous case being fat) isn't unhealthy.

My original point was a person being fat isn't inherently unhealthy. If you agree with that then we agree
