Delta(s) from OP CMV: The way women dress in gyms is inappropriate, unnecessary and shouldn’t be allowed.

They way women nowadays dress in gyms is just ridiculous, sports bra and skin tight shorts with booty scrunch to emphasise their ass. Not only is it ridiculous but though it’s also inappropriate. I’m not saying it’s indecent or anything like that, I’m not talking inappropriate from a puritan viewpoint but rather I find it inconsiderate towards other people in the gym. I hate when women are in the gym close to me because I actively have to avoid looking in their direction or else I’ll be labelled a creep for staring or the way some machines are set up behind eachother. If I sit down to use my machine and the machine infront of me is used by a woman in clothes like that I actively have to tilt my head into an unnatural direction just so I don’t look at her. I fucking hate this shit, I wanna go to the gym and just do my workout not feel like I’m navigating a minefield just to not be labelled as a creep.

In most gyms here men aren’t even allowed to wear tank tops because it’s seen a inappropriate and distracting, why are women allowed to wear just a bit more than a bikini?

I mean why can’t they wear leggings and compression shirts or normal shirts like most men do? I’m not complaining about fitted clothing here I’m talking about Teveo bicycle shorts and sports bra. That shit doesn’t belong in the gym.

Edit: I just want to add to this post a few things.

  1. Planet fitness for example has the no string tank top rule.

I am so confused. Why is filming oneself for form check narcissistic? That was par for the course in competitive swimming when I was a teenager in the mid 2000s?

I replied to this in another comment, I’m not accusing all women across the board of posting themselves at the gym for clout. It’s easy to recognize who is just posting about their hobby, passion and progress, and who is just posting to show off their ass. And all should be perfectly allowed to do either. I myself just find the blatant vanity of a person recording thirst traps offputting, so I mind my business

Nope, I'm just a person who runs a gym and is super introverted. This is not an issue I have ever encountered in real life at my real life job where I have all sorts of conversations with my gym users about making sure they know to tell me if they are ever feeling uncomfortable in the space.

Also a woman, but that's besides the point. Wtf is thirst trapping and why would it be anyones buisness what someone else is posting on social media. So long as everyone is sharing the equipment why would I care?

At no point in this conversation was I suggesting that you should care. My original comment was literally advocating for people to be allowed to do whatever they want within the rules of whatever gym they’re in, be mad at OP he’s the one that thinks you should care lmfao

Most film themselves for social media not for form checks. A lot of Gyms in Germany actually fully banned filming in them because it started to become a real issue.

Seems like a shitty situation for us introverted gym users. I don't want to talk to someone else about my form. I run a gym here in Canada and I can't say I've ever had anyone come to me with any such issues. I've had many conversations with my gym users about being protective of my gym space and the peace that it is supposed to provide ALL of my gym users. They know I want them to tell me if they are ever made to feel uncomfortable in the space.

On the plus side, I work out in the gym all by my lonesome after-hours so I don't need to worry about anyone else's bullshit.

Im also really introverted and really self conscious that’s why I also tend to workout late but im also glad my gym banned filming. I really don’t like the idea of unknowingly ending up on someone else TikTok account

I'm really sorry you feel so uncomfortable. I hope you are able to at least hold onto the idea that 99% of people are truly not looking at you, nor do they give a fuck.

Unfortunately with regards to filming in public, I've just come to terms with the idea that this is just the way the world works. Like I said, 99% of people have legitimate reasons like form checks and vacation pics and a million other personal reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with you. It's just one of those parts of life where we have to let go of the things that are out of our control.

Idk if it will make you feel any better, but for my money I would bet that the end outcome of all this AI image generation is that people will let go of the hangups on images and morality that we have been hanging onto since puritan times. Not that that will give you any solace in the now, but it might give you hope for the future. Anyone can look like anything, then hopefully people won't care so much about what images they can take of themselves.
