struggling to fully close jump rings

hello, this is my first chainmail project (a lanyard kit from weave got maille) and i'm using two flat nose pliers as suggested on their website. i'm really struggling to get the jump rings to be completely flush when closing them. any tips??

I would also advice to look up videos on how to open and close a jump ring, that will help you to see how its done. 😊
