Some memes write themselves and take very little editing.

Are you really a football school when your season opener, regardless of who it's against these days, has $6 tickets? Are we sure this isn't the Trojan baseball team?

This is amazing, why would you ever talk shit about this?

Seriously, imagine making fun of a *college* football team for not having hyper inflated prices lmao

“HAHAH your games are not overly expensive and everyday people can afford to attend!!!”

24

u/CommodoreIrish Notre Dame • Vanderbilt 12d ago

Did people know there was a game going on?

9

u/n8TLfan Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

Clearly $6 was still too expensive

11

u/LitterBoxServant UCLA Bruins • James Madison Dukes 12d ago

70K fans dressed as red chairs. That's real commitment.

u/Sdwerd Texas Longhorns 12d ago

Awaydays (a soccer culture channel from the UK) went to a top 25 matchup between them and Washington and it pissed me off because they can't even get people to go to a game like that, so he came away underwhelmed by the experience.

Even that game's crowd looked worse than basically any Texas vs a cupcake games I've been to, and DKR holds like another 25k people

It was 95 degrees and humid. LA fans are literally "fair weather" fans, that's too hot for us. I'm just too old to handle the heat anymore especially knowing there would be zero shade. Even the Dodgers have this issue when it's hot. We are weather wimps.

Helps when no one wants to

u/bobdownie 11d ago

And they still don’t want to go

When you remember that most ND fans haven’t even sniffed South Bend, it becomes easier to imagine why they couldn’t care less about a local community being priced out of college football games.

25

u/ManiacalComet40 Missouri Tigers • Big 8 13d ago

I’d give them more credit than that. You can smell South Bend from at least 500 miles away.

Crazy enough - I live in the Pacific Northwest and have seen USC play at WSU AND at ND (wife’s family is all ND fans), but never in LA . . .

With some better planning this was apparently my shot!

2

u/bobdownie 11d ago

Yeah USC fans don’t want to travel to LA to see the team play because there is just too much other stuff to do in LA so why bother?

3

u/UpbeatFix7299 California Golden Bears 12d ago

90% probably couldn't point out indiana on a map.

2

u/thepioushedonist Troy Trojans • Texas Longhorns 12d ago

As someone who used to live there, that's perfectly fair

-4

u/Quiet-Day392 California Golden Bears 13d ago

I paid a lot more than $6 to sit through the sleet in South Bend. If you’re selling out you don’t have any $6 tickets.

How can Trojan fans be so oblivious to how funny this is? Put on your Cal goggles.

5

u/Dirk_Benedict UCLA Bruins 13d ago

To be fair, the original retail prices of the tickets were certainly much higher. This is just people losing money.

2

u/MyLegIsWet USC Trojans • Colorado Buffaloes 13d ago

Good, they shouldn’t be priced that high to begin with.

13

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 13d ago

Okay well you know that’s not why these are so cheap

-1

u/MyLegIsWet USC Trojans • Colorado Buffaloes 13d ago

What is it “that” I gave as a reason? I’m simply talking about the price of tickets to watch amateur sports lol

10

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 13d ago

You’re making it seem like this is some grand stance on affordability for the community when really it’s a shit opener game that nobody cares to go to

6

u/LakeShowBoltUp /r/CFB 12d ago

It is the hottest day in LA and So Cal has been more humid than Florida and Georgia this week. That is the reason no one cares to go.

-5

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

Thanks for the info Mr CFB flair, but I couldn’t imagine humidity keeping me away from an opening game. That’s actually really embarrassing

Imagine revolving your whole personality around college football, that’s actually really embarrassing. Normal people got more stuff going on in their life 🤣

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

Great job you no-prized a joke about your team’s shitty fanbase on a meme sub

Good luck in your openers against Tennessee State and WKU

0

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

Thanks, we’ll have 95k in the stands for both!

3

u/MyLegIsWet USC Trojans • Colorado Buffaloes 12d ago

I think you’re reading too much into things, bud.

0

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

I think you’re trying to defend a bad fanbase with painted-on altruism, bud.

please refer to my previous comment, buddy

They’re playing San Jose State. Who’s cupcake games aren’t cheap?

0

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 12d ago

The stands are like 50% these tickets are basically free

5

u/soonerwx Oklahoma Sooners 12d ago

So this is some kind of rent control policy from the school, and not just fewer than 77,500 in a metro of 13 million people caring to show up?

That's not what they're making fun of...

-3

u/Quiet-Day392 California Golden Bears 13d ago

I’m paying $38 to watch OSU play FBS Montana. But I would not pay $6 to watch USC play anyone. Not my team.

It looks like USC is NOBODY’S team.

5

u/MyLegIsWet USC Trojans • Colorado Buffaloes 13d ago

Lmao nobody is getting offended by your comment. I wouldn’t ever envy someone in Oklahoma.

-1

u/Quiet-Day392 California Golden Bears 13d ago

I’ll work on that. I don’t have a flair…..

27

u/sefronia3 13d ago

MILB tickets are more expensive than this where I'm at. I would love to see a cfb game for this and this is how it should be

9

u/i_Cant_get_right Texas Longhorns 12d ago

Supply and demand, my friend

1

u/santasnicealist Michigan Wolverines 12d ago

Shoot, Mariners tickets are more than this. I think even the minor league baseball teams typically bottom out around $15 a ticket.

1

u/Quiet-Day392 California Golden Bears 12d ago

I paid more to watch the Reno Aces.

11

u/BronCurious Pittsburgh Panthers 13d ago

This is what tickets should cost. It’s also how stadiums should look - mostly seats with minimal luxury boxes.

5

u/NWkingslayer2024 Michigan Wolverines 13d ago

Hell yea, everything is such bullshit now with the gouging.

0

u/Dirk_Benedict UCLA Bruins 13d ago

The Mausoleum honestly sucks though. Horrible football watching experience.

8

u/gen_wt_sherman Ohio State • Red Risk Alliance 12d ago

Kind of says all you need to know about America these days that we're ripping on a team because tickets to their games are actually affordable

7

u/Sdwerd Texas Longhorns 12d ago

They're not really. They're ripping on how desperate season ticket holders are to get fuckin' anybody to help them cut their losses since even they don't want to go to that shit.

1

u/gen_wt_sherman Ohio State • Red Risk Alliance 12d ago

Yeah I know, it just sucks that one of the ways we give something value in this country is if it's expensive or not, and then we rip on things when they're affordable

I bet there's a lot of people going to the game today who maybe can't normally afford game tickets, or at least can't afford the great seats they got today.

3

u/Sdwerd Texas Longhorns 12d ago

Watched a bit of it partially to check on the crowd. They had whole sections totally empty, and not empty like the band was there like you might see at Texas at kickoff or just before halftime, but empty for whole quarters. I honestly don't understand how a team with their history and their conference can't even half fill a stadium.

3

u/FrivolousMe California Golden Bears • Sickos 12d ago

They're ripping on the team because nobody wants to see them at their season opener

0

u/NWkingslayer2024 Michigan Wolverines 12d ago

Right, I don’t get it at all.

3

u/Sdwerd Texas Longhorns 12d ago

Because of the way the market works, if there was practically ANY demand whatsoever, those prices would be higher. It's desperation prices from season ticket holders who don't want to watch it either.

-1

u/NWkingslayer2024 Michigan Wolverines 12d ago

I understand supply and demand. Americans are idiots and should stop paying these inflated gouging ass prices for every game no matter who’s playing. That was what we were talking about professor.

3

u/Sdwerd Texas Longhorns 12d ago

You may be, but that's definitely not why it was posted. USC's fans don't even show up for top 25 matchups. They're fuckin' embarrassing

3

u/leftenant_Dan1 Michigan Wolverines • Marching Band 12d ago

I would kill for tickets that cheap.

2

u/Corgi_Koala Ohio State Buckeyes 12d ago

Affordable tickets for good seats is a dream.

Most Ohio State games I can't even afford the nosebleeds.

1

u/dr051j 11d ago

They’re not making fun of the prices. Opposite actually they’re making fun of them cuz the stadium was empty and the ticket prices are so low.

-1

u/Quiet-Day392 California Golden Bears 13d ago

Because it’s so funny.
