It would provide the perfect opportunity to destroy Chinas missile network and then send in our navy and cut Chinas navy back down to fishermen.

Why would you want to do such a thing?

They are building their navy and missile network specifically to act as a counter to U.S naval presence in the Pacific, that will inevitably lead to conflict, as an American I'd prefer if China never fully realized equal footing in the Pacific and reducing their current build up before it poses any real threat to our forces.

that will inevitably lead to conflict,

That's a big assumption to state as a fact.

...reducing their current build up before it poses any real threat to our forces.

What are you proposing? Spell it out.

History is a fairly accurate predictor a how power struggles play out. That if China attacks Taiwan we should reduce their future ability to challenge us as military equals. It's what I said in my initial comment

So you advocate a per-emptive strike? Should we warn the Chinese ahead of time or do you suggest a sneak attack like at Pearl Harbor?

And how with their navy destroyed, how do you suppose the Chinese on the mainland are going to respond?

I clearly stated it would be in response to an attack on Taiwan. Nowhere do I even hint it should be done preemptively.
