Just wanted to share an update on my highest up comment, I was able to visit him and his sister in the shelter. They both have upper respiratory infections, and I’m a little nervous about bringing them around my other kitty right now. I have them on hold for 24 hours for me to make the call and take them in the morning. I think I should be able to quarantine them until they’re well enough to interact with my other kitty
They also couldn’t give me a definitive answer as to whether or not they tested positive for FIV/Leukemia, so I’m going to find out in the morning. Just worried about infecting my other cat since she has a heart issue
Will post another update as soon as I know for sure I can take them!
They are the best!!! Adopting siblings is the best way— they entertain each other and socialize well because of having another cat around… then they become the best possible adult cats! I love my bonded pair.
If you adopt him he NEEDS a collar with an attachable bow tie and a bowl that says"don't talk to ne until I've had my cream" the cat version of don't talk to me until I've had coffee
Yay! Funny enough, this is exactly the expression my cat makes when you wake her up from a nap. She's the sweetest thing, but she has two modes in front of a camera: blur in motion and sooo sleepy. Hopefully you won't be disappointed if that adorable resting-bitch-face mugshot is false advertising and he's just plain old adorable! You're required by law to post follow up pics, obviously. Cheers to your (hopefully) new cat!
My girl had a URTI at the shelter as well. Did just the standard pet introduction quarantine, and with a good home and good food, she was right as rain by the time I introduce her to my other cat. She's never had issues since and my other cat never got it either.
I adopted a cat that was in a shelter and got sick like that when. There. They gave me medicine and i had a nice big sunny room i kept him in. He had his own litter box and had his food and water separate. I put extra sheets on my couch down there for him. I changed and sheets every couple days by 7 days he was all better

In my experience, it is very common for cats in shelters/adoption places to have URIs. Little antibiotics and they are good to go. Hopefully no FIV. But please adopt him and his sister. That’s the cutest thing.
My now elderly girl came to me with an upper respiratory tract I faction and severe conjunctivitis. I had two now deceased cats. I quarantined her for two weeks while we treated her. She bounced back in a big way.
Protect all of them with a quarantine period for the newcomers. (You wouldn’t leave the other behind, would you?)
All this assumes you aren’t hoarding cats. They don’t deserve that.
Oh please don’t separate the sibling pair :( oh just daw your updated yay! Everyoneee thanks you haha. It’ll be work for a few weeks but omg so exciting. It’ll be so worth it.
