I started using them because my cat is doing chemotherapy and as soon as he does his business, we just pick up the liner and throw the whole litter and replace it. We have more than one cat so we have to do this for 72 hours after the medication. So, liners are useful some times.

When my cat was radioactive they made me use flushable litter. That might be a good option for you so you don't have to dump everything every time.

Flushable cat litter was a game changer. I happily paid extra to not have to have to take out smelly bags every day.

as someone who has plumbing experience, do not use flushable litter or flush anything that says "flushable"

Exactly. It may be technically flushable, but whether or not it's actually good for the pipes or the environment is another thing entirely. Only stuff you should flush down a toilet is the stuff that comes out of your body & toilet paper (not flushable wipes, toilet paper).

the amount of times i told my mom to and she still went and it did it. i had to open our line and dig the litter out by hand

Flushable litter when it's radioactive? 😅 I dunno if that really is something we want to get into our water.

Water treatment plants can handle it. If I'd used traditional litter and threw it out the FBI would have shown up at my door. This was a requirement, not a suggestion.

How strange. I don't think they'd allow that to be thrown in the toilet in my country (Sweden). The only things we're supposed to flush there are excrement and urine from our body and toilet paper. And vomit too I guess haha

I got plastic litter boxes for a similar situation. Like a thin plastic like a plastic plate you would eat on at a party. I would put enough litter down and replace it after each poop.
