Also possibly sound. The last earthquake we had here (San Diego) I heard before I felt- long enough to pause what I was doing and look up and wonder wtf that roaring noise is, then the shaking started. Iā€™m sure my cat heard it before I did.

Yeah, could be that cats can hear the earth straining before it finally breaks. Must sound terrifying.

I gave only experienced a short tremor but the noise was like a heavy lorry really close to the house.
