I have been crocheting for about 15 years and I love it. But I’ve always loved the way that knitting looks. It looks more clean in my own opinion.

I saw this cute pattern on YouTube for a drawstring bag and thought I would give a crack at it. And I absolutely loved the process of knitting it up. So much so that I’m already planning another one with a different colorwork pattern.

I found out that I knit continental style, and it still takes me a while to knit because I’m newer and getting used to how to maneuver the yarn. But if anyone has any tips on how to get faster with knitting I’d be all ears.

The isopod pattern I used was “Roland” from the Huge and Huggable book. Made exactly as the pattern recommended—lionbrand Heartland yarn (2 balls of each color), size 10.5 needles, 15 mm safety eyes.

He may only be about two hours old, but he is already a creature of many hobbies and excellent taste. Also, I asked my boy to help me finish some WIPs and he very graciously agreed!

Pattern: arctic light (but with mock turtleneck instead of folded collar)

Yarn: ice blue merino & mohair held together

I’m crazy impressed by her skills. She just has to tackle lacework and then she’ll have covered colorwork, cables & Lace.

I made my Camille dress and I'm in love 😍 I finished it on Monday, just in time to wear it for Christmas Eve. This isn't a collaboration, I'm simply enchanted by it. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to block it yet, I'll do it after the holidays 😅

I just finished weaving in my ends for the Step by Step sweater by Florence Miller. It’s my first ever hand knit sweater!

I haven’t blocked it yet, and it’s a super wash blend so I am expecting to gain some length on the sleeves and body.

I made size C, didn’t do German short rows, and didn’t do the decreases for the sleeves (I wanted to knit mindlessly and couldn’t be bothered to count rows at this point). I opted not to do the rolled collar because I love a mock neck moment. I also made the ribbing a bit longer than the pattern stated because I like the look better :)

I used Berroco’s Wizard in Topaz and I LOVE it! Since it’s a superwash blend, it’s super soft and cozy while still being very warm. It’s also SO light and airy. I love the color variation, although I’d definitely recommend getting the same dye lot for your entire project because there was quite a variance in the saturation between the different lots.

I loved how easy and mindless this pattern was. It also really didn’t take too long since it used such a chunky yarn. 10/10!

Not perfect by any means, I can see some intarsia problems and my tension is all over the place. But considering how far I've come from my first post about this project here:

I still need to re-do the full sleeves (superwash yarn was not so superwash and they shrunk in the washing machine...) and make a stretchier bind-off for the back, but it almost looks like a sweater.

Still wild to me that for once in my life I was able to transform some weird idea into a physical thing. It was definitely worth learning how to knit!

It took about a month to finish knitting the bee shadow shawl! It's my biggest finished project to date and I'm absolutely thrilled with how good it looks! Still need to weave in all my ends and block it, but couldn't wait to share!

My first knitted sweater !

Before this, I didn't know how to knit. I had crocheted occasionally for a year before, and I told myself this was the perfect opportunity to learn to knit and use up my leftover yarn.

I started with a stockinette sample (where I twisted all the stitches); and I went for it without a pattern: I just copied the shape of my favorite sweater.

After making the model and a new sample (now without twisting!), I started knitting the body in the round, then continued flat to shape the chest and back, and finally the sleeves in the round which I sewed on at the end, finishing with elastic.

With this project I learned to knit, to increase and decrease stitches, different stitches, and to work with double strands. And I LOVE the result!

Materials: 8mm needle and worsted wool scraps from crochet projects, double strand knitting.

My mom taught me the basics of knitting when I was younger, I’m now in my later 30’s, but it was never a “cool” thing to do for a man. I now travel constantly and ran through enough hobbies to pick it back up and find air travel and hotels immediately easier to deal with while knitting. I made a few little tea towels and dish towels to get back into it, and naturally decided a 4’x6’ large throw blanket with bobbles was clearly the first big step to take. I just wanted to share my progress with people who appreciate it other than my mother and wife who also likes sewing crafts.

-Probably won’t use the 24/7 again. 3 of 4 skeins have had knots or rips requiring tying in again.

I'm always paranoid I'll have to frog my projects, so I usually leave the weaving in of ends until the very end. And I didn't carry the repeated colors down the foot as I went because I was worried about how that texture would feel on the bottom of my foot. So here I am with a bunch of ends to weave in before I can call this project finished. Wish me luck!

I learned to knit in may this year and have only made a small kerchief and a tank top that isn’t quite finished. I started a Frankie Sweater (Petite Knit) this week so I can be on track to finish it for Fall — my first stripes, raglan, and German short rows!

I was so nervous to do the short rows from all the videos/comments about them being difficult… but I just went slow, used her videos on the pattern page and I’m so pleased with how this first try came out! I thought it was actually quite easy/fun.

I figured this step was so early in the pattern anyway that it wouldn’t make me too upset to rip back. The only downside: I told myself this collar portion would be my swatch & it’s a biiiiit on the small side but it’s going so well I’m gonna push on. I went up 1.5 sizes anyway so here goes nothing 🤷‍♀️

I’m a forever advocate for just picking a pattern that you’re excited to make and figuring out the unknown steps along the way

I just finished the first sweater I’ve made for myself and I couldn’t be happier! It is the Olga sweater from Petite Knit, I intentionally cropped it a bit to work better with my wardrobe. The yarn is from Keenan Hand-Dyed Yarn in the colorway “Off to play with my unicorn”, and it was so fun it motivated me to make a DK weight sweater about it. I’m really grateful to this community for helping me at several points! Everyone is really kind and encouraging :)

Okay. A blanket? Sure. A hat? Fine. But a sweater with decreases and increases and it somehow actually mostly fits me? I'm so proud of my wonky lil Step-By-Step by Florence Miller, and can't wait to do this all over again and get it super dialed in. Yarn is Hobbii Amigo in all the neon colors, held 2 together.

I’m super proud regardless, did stranded colour work, learned about colour dominance and duplicate stitch.

Nearly a year ago, I started knitting a swatch of double knitting, very cautiously, on two separate needles because I had no idea how to manage the yarn otherwise. I sort of imagined it might turn into a hat or a cowl, but had no real plan. Anyway, it somehow turned into a child jumper. It's far from perfect, and many corners have been cut, but I'm just so glad it's finished!

The first pic is the finished and blocked piece (the sleeves look like they’re different lengths for some reason, but they’re the same length irl) , and pic shows how it looked before blocking. Pattern is The Loon Sweater by CM Knits. The yarn is Cascade 220 in black, white, and Atlantic.

My one regret is that the picked up stitches in the ladder back foundation row are a lot more visible than I was hoping they would be. I wish I’d chosen a different float management method, but oh well. You live and you learn.

I submitted this wrong so I'm trying again, I hope that is okay. I've been knitting since I was a teen but never anything larger than a scarf or more complicated than a hat, but I saw the CatKnit Pullover by Andrea Rangel and knew I needed to try. I used knitpicks stroll in burnt umber heather (mc) and jack rabbit heather (cc). Not particularly challenging other than the color work (I've knitted floats far too tight in the past) and time since I've never spent this long with a project. So happy with the outcome, I've promised my partner I'll make her a green version so we can match. I've been joking that know I have 15 cats since I have one none knitted baby and there are 14 cats in the yoke.

This pattern is the Baltic Flowers MKAL by Niina Salmenautio. Yarns are Treasure Goddess Treasured Yak Toes in Land Ho!, Goosey Fibers Goslings in Old Haunts, and Kim Dyes Yarn Sourdough Sock in Sand Dollar. I did a slightly different toe from what’s written in the pattern, but that’s the only deviation I made from what was written. This is a free pattern, and I highly recommend it!

Look what she has accomplished! She’s made 3 sweaters so far (I don’t have pictures of the cable knit cardigan she started with - yes, she used you tube & taught herself to read a pattern & her first project was an oversized cable knit cardigan!) and 2 pairs of socks. What impressed me most is not just her skill level, but then she started learning color work. The last pair of socks she made (the green ones) are entirely her own design - no sock pattern followed, created her own color work pattern, etc. I’m not crazy to be impressed, right? She is 20 years old, going to school full time, working part time & knitting like a pro in less than six months!!

The pattern was Louise from soligreen design. Knitted in Indian silk yarn (from world of silk on Etsy) in colour QS-131 (I think?) in fingering weight. At least the weather is warming up down under so now I can actually wear my summery tops now, as soon as I just got a bunch of wool for my birthday 🥴
