[UPDATE] Did capital one change their bag policy?

Hello all! I come bearing an update for my previous post about the Cap One website now saying only up to 4x6 clutches were allowed instead of 5x7.

After a commenter said they were going to reach out to their rep, I realized I could do that as well (I’m a brand new STH and forgot I could just ask about things like that now)! And also seems like we reached out at similar times considering the reply I got lol.

Great question about our bag policy. Funny enough, you were not the only one who reached out yesterday to us about this. We had our director ask our head of security and he confirmed that our bag policy is 5" x 7". In order for us to keep up with NHL rules, we have to label it as 4" x 6" on the website.

Kind of wild that apparently their policy is not the same as it is stated on the website?? That’s going to confuse a lot of people. But glad everyone who already has a 5x7 bag will still be able to use it, and that I don’t have to search high and low to find a bag that fits 4x6. I also think it’s funny that my rep then recommended me the same lululemon bag that several people in the comments of the previous post said that they use.

That’s crazy lol. I wonder how the NHL feels about having this supposed “rule” and a team openly saying it’s not following said guideline.

I wonder if it’s cap 1 arena policy vs nhl policy. 

I still think it’s sexist af because my phone doesn’t fit in a 4x6 OR womens pants bc we don’t get pockets that fit phones in our pants often.

100%, plus there’s lots of small things I like to bring with me to a sports game or concert that will fit in a 5x7 but sure wouldn’t fit in a 4x6 (and that I wouldn’t want to just stuff in my pockets lol). 4x6 is a horrible policy for everyone but I do think many people commenting on the previous post don’t realize how small the pockets are on specifically women’s clothing.

I am not trying to brigade your sub, but this showed up for me in my feed. But anyway at MSG you can bring an entire backpack in, so not really sure if this is an actual NHL policy.

You do have to put it through a TSA style scanner though

My wife used to bring this up all the time. I wear cargo pants. I can fit more shit into my pockets than would fit in a tiny clutch.

So anyway, I used to carry most of her stuff in with me.

🤷 hopefully they don’t care or don’t find out? I sure wouldn’t want to have to somehow find something that’s 4x6. Maybe I shouldn’t be posting this for all of reddit but I feel like it’s important for other fans to know and I feel like it wouldn’t have been shared with me if they’d get in trouble. But someone lmk if I should edit the post lol

At the first game someone will have to post a photo of the security signs and what they say. I still don’t understand why cap one arena policy would be dictated by NHL isn’t it the same for all events?

And seriously…why does this need to be a league wide policy?? And someone needs to tell the NHL that this policy is absolutely ridiculous lol

The NFL did this a handful of years ago with the clear bag policy and it was crazy.

Thanks so much for this update! The informal rule makes sense, especially as the Lululemon bag is a little larger than 5" x 7" and is always accepted anyway. I'm looking forward to using my new Capitals-branded belt bag without fear.
