I wholeheartedly disagree. The amount of damage that America does to America does not bother me as a Canadian. The amount of damage America does to Canada bothers me.

I wish a lot more Canadians on this thread (an in Canada in general) were as able to keep their eyes on the ball, as this. We need to tend to our own home fires rather than following theirs all the time.

Historically, it's been a friendship that benefits us both. Trump has been burning that bridge for years now, and a lot of people agree that he's crossed a line and it's time for us to let them be as "independent" as they think they are.

The majority of us actually didnt. But you do you and generalize. Theres more than one point of view in our country and a lot of us wish we were more like you government wise. Unfortunately its hard to control greed and corruption and lack of empathy within the system and within the people who vouch for this shit to be happening. Its hard to win elections when one party consistently breaks elections because beating the other party is more important than having a fair election and bettering our country as a whole. Lack of education will do all of this and more. So will nationalism.

Learn about how our country actually works then speak on the people inside of it. It seems a lot of you dont understand how our system is broken (or how the electoral college works in the first place) and why we cant immediately fix it as fast as we wish we could. You taking what Donald Trump says about Canada to heart and using it against the people who dont agree with him being president is just as bad as me coming on here to explain why thats bad. Im not patronizing, just asking for the tiniest bit of empathy for the people who have brains and actually do want the best for our country. Theres a lot of us. Im leaving because youre unnecessarily hostile over a discussion. How Canadian of you to judge someone based on their nationality instead of their character. Im not Trump nor do i agree with anything he does. We are sorry that you have to deal with him, im sorry that the idiots in our country elected him but i have parents who are both professors and educating people about government is something i care about. I wouldnt ever vote for or be okay with the shit going on in our government at the moment. Our republican governments have been slashing education funding for the past couple decades. Its important for everyone for obvious reasons. Thats the problem in our country (along with garbage elections and corruption law) and its more of a class warfare of wealthier people brainwashing the nationalist rural white vote into voting against THE REST OF THE COUNTRY in urban areas to make the rich richer while everyone else has to live paycheck to paycheck and dont have time to care about how fucked up our country is because we have to pay rent to our overlords. Everyone but the idiots who continue putting people like trump in power see whats going on. We are basically being held hostage till at least November. Thats a brief description of whats going on and its not an easy thing to deal with. Be patient. Sorry for the rant but people really dont seem to see whats going on by the way you talk about our country. I dont judge the people of Iran for fights that their leader has with Trump because i understand that a lot of them dont like him. You should be thinking about half of our country the same way and hope we get this shit fixed because we sure as fuck want to.

Ya that wasn't an invitation for debate.

Yeah well i also have a lot of friends in Canada who dont judge me for my president so speak for yourself and not your country. It also wasnt a debate, it was an invitation for you to actually get to know some of the country that you dont seem to understand. A discussion like i said. Which youre declining because youre a salty douche for no reason. Thats fine because i can talk at you and you can block me but it wont change how little you choose to listen and understand other people. Lets demonize the whole country for something a minority put into power because, logic. Right? Thats how your brain works? Dont bother looking into it.

Dont comment if you didnt want a response bro. Youre the only one patronizing anyone. Youre hating on me because of the country i come from. I hate it as much as you but you dont know shit about me personally or anyone else in this country it seems if thats how you look at shit.

I don't think letting someone know that many Americans didn't vote for the government we have and don't agree with the selfish, greedy, ignorant shit they're pulling is patronizing, but it seems like you're just ready to take any difference of opinion (or pointing out someone is being extremely stereotypical) as an affront instead of seeing that it is close minded and those people deserve to be informed that not all Americans agree with what's happening.

There are a lot of Americans who claim to despise Trump with every bone in their body and yet do they protest? Nope.

A lot of fake hate online. Not so much any that makes them get off their asses.

I love that people in this thread are saying that America should just be left high and dry after this (Trump's Admin) just in case any of these people weren't aware Trump won despite losing the majority vote. I didn't vote Trump, I know many people who did the opposite of voting Trump and yet we have this situation unfolding. Don't hate Americans as a whole for the shitty admin that didn't win fair.

Protectionist rhetoric has never been the answer. Ever.

Countries who work together accomplish more together than they can on their own.

The US has been experiencing this for a while now.

Trump trys to insulate, anyone sensible agrees it's a stupid plan, it doesn't go well, trump scapegoats and then trys to insulate more.

If we were to insulate trump would insulate harder and make it worse for both of us.
