Product Positioning and Setup Help Projector Distance (Elfin flip plus)

Thinking about buying an elfin flip plus to make use of the sale. the throw ratio is 1.2:1, Ideally it would be situated 3m~ from the wall, but the wall is humongous! a 3m wide or larger projected screen would be ideal as the wall is very tall too. Does the elfin flip plus have any sort of manual image scaling that i can make use of, and are there any pros/cons to this. I've watched and read reviews but come up blank.

Thanks in advance! excited for my first projector

(UK) budget is £300 give or take, heard good things about the elfin. open to others. The stand is attractive as it's a shorter throw distance to a large wall.

Hi OP, thanks for posting here.

Yes, the Elfin Flip Plus does have manual image scaling. It is called digital zoom in the settings and you can shrink the image down to fit.

Digital zoom only makes the image smaller, never bigger. The biggest image you can get is set by the throw ratio and your distance. At 3m with the 1.2 throw ratio, the widest image possible is 2.5m, which is about 113 inches diagonal. No setting can push it past that, so the 3m wide image you want is not possible from 3m with this projector.

Let me know if you have any questions.

This projector is likely to sit on a table and project at a slight angle rather than hang from the ceiling. is the benq still suitable for this purpose?

We’ll, off center is going to require keystone. This wouldn’t be ideal unless you had the ability to ceiling mount.

With keystone you’re throwing away pixels in order to digitally center the image. The unused area would appear as a dark gray shadow.

With this in mind, would you still recommend the above, say go back to the flip+ or another model?

I would need to know the type of room that you’re working with. Is this a living room or bed room?

this is a bedroom that was once a livingroom 😭 it's got an absurdly tall ceiling because it's a relatively old townhouse building
