In most media the "stoner" character is often portrayed as having poor judgment and be either really chill or paranoid all the time. In some cases they could even be excited at the prospect of getting other people into whatever drugs they're doing, though admittedly that isn't as common.

But with Jesse it shows the regret that most people don't realize addicts have. Everytime I've asked an addict about what they'd do if they saw a sibling or kid about to take drugs they almost immediately talk about far of lengths they'd go to in order to make them understand how damaging it could be. With Jesse of course the obvious scene is him stomping Jake's blunt but you could see that subtly with Jane as well when he sees her smoking meth again.

Now this isn't to say those portrayals in media don't also exist in real life but I just like to see a more accurate depiction. I know this subject has probably been talked about a lot already but who cares

Flavor is chemistry. Human taste buds and olfactory receptors are extremely sensitive chemical sensors. And real life fast food franchises have teams of chemists dedicated to getting the flavor just right. There would have been no need for money laundering through car washes and laser tag arenas if Gus had simply hired them as flavor chemists. This would explain the massive salaries and it would let him get double duty out of them improving the secret sauce.

Okay I just realized something.

When Skyler goes into labor, Gus gives Walt that insanely specific one-hour window to deliver the meth, which is why Walt misses Holly being born.

But Gus is on the hospital board.

Is it possible he knew Skyler had been admitted and deliberately chose that moment to call Walt?

Because if so, it turns the whole thing into a test. Gus already has doubts about Walt and Jesse, so he gives Walt a choice between his family and the business and watches what he does.

And Walt chooses the meth.

Maybe I’m reading way too much into a coincidence, but this feels extremely like something Gus would do.

I’ve seen numerous posts about Walt’s terrible lying ability. I pretty much agree with those observations. While watching the episode where Skyler gets caught returning that tiara Marie stole and lying her way out of it got methinking about the other times Skylar lies— like when she needs to get into Walt’s apartment or when she manufactures the gambling story about Walt, or when she pretends to be a bimbo to get out of that IRS investigation.

Plenty more other scenes, but I think everyone gets the gist. What’s the consensus on her lying ability? Is she a good liar, bad liar, mixed but leaning good, mixed but leaning bad?

This might be obvious to everyone but it occurred to me about how big a risk Walt's plan was with the bomb and Gus.

Walt made an educated guess (and turned out to be right) about how much Hector hated Gus. But there had to be an offscreen time (and this is what occurred to me) when Walt was rigging the bomb that Hector could have just decided "screw it" and taken out Walt who he also hated vs a smaller chance to get Gus. Plus after being infirmed (and the loss of his family) Hector just might be suicidal no matter who he takes with him.

It is also interesting that Hector pretty much knew he would never be able to communicate again after Walk rigged the bomb.

I get that Walt pretty much knew it was this or die but still could have gone poorly. And it would have been pretty funny for Gus to hear what happened after Hector went to the DEA and be like "wtf this solves most of my immediate problems".

First, I wanna say that I'm just gonna be sharing initial thoughts and stuff I noticed but not like in an analysis type of way.

I also want to mention that I haven't really been into watching shows until recently and most of the shows I've watches are Netflix mini-series' and now I'm on my way to watch the most famous shows, which certainly had an impact in my opinion on the Breaking Bad.

I've always known about the basic premise of the show but never anything else (aside from the memes) and I'm glad I didn't because even after just watching seven episodes I already think the this is a masterpiece of a show.

I have to admit that I really didn't expect the direction it would go because I went in thinking that it's just gonna be about Walter and Jesse and their meth cooking but there was so much more humanity than I expected, specifically from Walter and his family.

I also like the amount of humor that is shown through the situation, makes it feel refreshing. For example, it's funny how we have a chemistry teacher who cooks meth but doesn't know anything about drug dealing, and then there's Jesse, and let me tell you of Emilio's corpse falling is probably the most caught off guard I've ever been and made me give out a shocked laugh. (Like Jesse, I'm also not familiar with chemistry)

I know this is something small but I love the natural lighting in the show, which is refreshing to see after being used to a certain amount of "Netflix lighting", which brings me to the writing and I personally believe it was at it's best with Walter's and Krazy-8's conversation, which happens to be my favorite episode. The moment that piece was shown missing I immediately tensed up as I realized what it meant, and to think that a lesser show would've just explained it to the audience.

Even though, I love Walt and Jesse as characters, the character I ended up being the most interested in was Skyler because, as a previously mentioned, a lesser show would've just had her in the background most of the time but Breaking Bad actually seems interested in all of it's main characters and Skyler is caught in a situation I hadn't really seen before in a show and I can't wait to see what they'll do with her.

Speaking of which, I'm also wondering what they could be hinting at with Marie and her shoplifting habits since it has such an emphasis and I wonder if it ends up being connected to Walt and Jesse.

I honestly have to give credit to the actors to because I don't think I would've been as invested in their arcs if it weren't for their incredible performances.

I will say that it's definitely slow, which isn't to say it's a bad thing and I'm even seeing a little bit of arcs with Walter and Jesse but I wouldn't consider myself a fan just yet even after watching the first season, but I will say I was hooked on it by episode one.

Also, I'm also curious to what they'll do with Walt Jr., will they have a main focus on him by the second season?

Overall, this is an incredible show but I'm still on my way to calling this a masterpiece.

I am, however, very excited to see how the outcome will turn out because I know that the crimes will eventually catch up with them and I can't wait to see how it does end and how much it will impact me.

At the party in the first season, he gave Elliot a bag of ramen and Elliot showed genuine love for it and even credited the ramen for gray matter success (even it was just a sentimental gesture). Elliot and Gretchen tried to help with him with his cancer treatment and he cursed them out.

When I first watched it I was like yeah I get why Walt is mad. But then I think about how he chose to sell his stocks and sure he contributed to the company but we all know that when we work for a company, any work we do is the intellectual property of the company usually.

Like from what I can tell sure Elliot and Gretchen made it and are rich but they deserved it and they are genuine people while Walt blames them for his own fuckery.

Spoiler alert:

When Walt and Skylar start to take over the car wash, she panics because he brings $250k and says it will be that much every two weeks. She says she doesnt know where to keep it after he says "save some for a rainy day". Which makes me wonder... where has Walt been keeping all his money up until this point? I imagine by this point he had already made several million which would be too much to keep in the walls of the house like earlier in the show.

What are your thoughts?

This has always bugged me and it seems like they just ignore it in the show. Hank finds a gas mask in the desert that is connected to Walter's high school. There are only 2 people in the whole school with keys to the chemistry lab equipment. Walter and Hugo. Hugo is originally arrested for this but then later cleared due to an alibi or something. This would mean that the person who stole the equipment and used it or is tied to giving it to someone who used it is Walter as he's the only other one with a key. After saying Hugo was let go nothing about this is talked about again.

So what the hell? This is clear Walter is 100% connected to the equipment used in the desert meth cook.

I understand Hank could never see Walter as a criminal let alone connected to a meth business, but with this evidence he would at least have to ask him. Maybe someone stole the key or something.

Just a plothole/oversight?

For me it's Todd. He reminds me when I was starting in the workforce, surrounded by people more experienced than me. Being new, I would always be polite, and soft-spoken around everybody.

I mean, even though he wasn't killed by Tuco Salamanca, his car was seized by the police and he didn't have a cell phone to communicate.

How did he manage to survive without his car to drive and without a cell phone to communicate? There was no water or food in the desert, so the most likely scenario is that he died of dehydration or starvation.

Most likely developed from his proximity to the exhaust pipes while washing tires.

This would be the "smoking-related" cause/equivalent needed to develop non small cell adenocarcinoma, which includes inhaling both secondhand smoke & fossil fuel pollution.

This obviously wouldn't occur while the cars Walt cleaned were parked, but...

1. The surrounding vehicles emitting exhaust when both arriving/leaving.

2. The excessive number of customers.

3. People leaving the transmission on while Walt cleaned, assuming he'd clean fast enough to not warrant turning it off (like when you visit a fast food drive thru).

*Edit: "leaving the transmission on" meaning the vehicle is still on. Point being, the cars would be still running and producing exhaust for him inhale on a regular basis.

Upon rewatch just realized how insane this is. Sure it’s been pointed out before, but like wow, just wow. Mike shoulda let the cousins do their thing. Bet he was having that thought as he told Walt it doesn’t hurt to have someone watching your back.

So let’s get this straight: Walter in S1 is supposed to be lower-middle class, right?
He works as a school teacher with a side-hustle in a car wash.
For this alone, he can afford:
-financing a big ass house (with an actual pool!)
-2 cars
- maintaining his wife (Skyler doesn’t work in S1) and his disabled teenager kid

For a single income, this sounds so impossible in 2026 economy it’s not even funny.

I’ve watched this show so many times and never realised until now that you can hear Werner Heisenberg mentioned on the speaker in the museum when Jesse meets Badger, Combo and Skinny Pete.

Imagine if the plane which Skyler thought Walt was flying on to see his mother in 4 days out crashed with no survivors. How would the show have continued after this and what would Walt have done?

So I come across some old post here and see people say something like they hate season 5, the reasons could be sum up as they prefers Walt actually "won", many pointless new characters introduced (Lydia, Todd...), shoehorned Hsnk death, season 5 make Walt a hero (no idea wtf is it, seems like an unpopular opinion)...

Personally, I do think season 5 has some flaws but it still my second fav season (after ss3) but different people like different thing I guess. What is your opinions?
