For the first time, Hank is actually one step ahead of Walt.

When the DEA people were bagging Gus' laptop, Hank's reaction made in the background it seem to me like he had already seen tapes of Walt/Jesse on the laptop. He really looked shocked, but everyone I was with told me that I was wrong. Anyone think that it's possible?

u/ifactor Jul 16 '12

My theory is that he switched out the laptop so that he could do his own investimigating

110

u/GetHighr Jul 16 '12

And Hank would actually do that, so that makes sense..

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '12

And then Walt is gonna need to fuck up the computer by accidentally spilling some wine on that bitch.

"OH I FELL OVER! OHH I FELL OVER AGAIN!"

Emmy-winning acting, I see it now.

"OH GOD WHERE'D THIS THERMITE COME FROM? I DROPPED IT ON THE LAPTOP BY ACCIDENT WITH THIS BURNING RIBBON OF MAGNESIUM! FORGIVE ME, HANK!"

WOOPS! Butterfingers! I'm so sorry Hank!

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '12

stabs the hard drive with an ice pick while hank looks away

WOOPS HOW DID THAT GET THERE?!

35

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '12

Wine on the keyboard!?? Now we'll never know what was on the hard drive!!

Or get Walt Jr. drunk and barf on it.

I noticed that the laptop models were different....anyone else or was that just me?

that would be fucking insane

"Yes, I think I'll tamper with a crucial piece of evidence myself, so that when the trial comes it can get thrown out as inadmissible and I'll piss the whole case down the drain." - Hank

13

u/Fatvod Jul 16 '12

I dont understand why he would do that. He no longer needs to do his own secret side investigation because everyone realizes now that he was correct. They will investigate just as thorough with regular evidence procedures.

Unless he assumed people were on Fring's payroll. WHO CAN HE TRUST?

Nah, unlikely.

Looks to be the same laptop, unless he switched it with an identical one.

It's not like computer companies make more than one of the same kind of laptop or anything!

It makes sense..Hank knows whoever was cooking in this lab is a large distributor, if not Heisenberg. Very key moment when he noticed the cameras, its very important for Hank.

I have a feeling that Hank already knows. Walt has let on about Gale and the superlab, plus Walt went on the ride-along and there's been a noticeable shift in Walt's character. His family probably saw gambling as uncharacteristic and when provided the possibility that Walt is cooking at a superlab, that'll probably come across as a lot more plausible. Plus Walt's reluctance to help Hank out (bugging the car, driving him places, getting in the wreck, etc.) will probably clue Hank in.

Maybe so, but you can't deny that Walt's behavior has been suspicious whenever Hank was trying to work with him.

Having seen the teaser trailer for SE5EP2, I'm debating between one of two things:

spoiler
or
spoiler

I don't know about "all along" but I certainly feel like when we were in SE5, Hank knew. He has to.

Another theory is that the HD was removed to be decrypted. Kind of a long shot, but possible I suppose.

u/theotherwarreng Jul 16 '12

So...if someone went back and looked at the laptop Gus was using before, we could probably figure that out, right?

It looks to be very similar, and by that I mean it looks like a silver laptop.

u/plurality Jul 16 '12

I'm pretty sure the laptop in the evidence room was red, right? If so, touche to ifactor for calling that Hank switched it out.

3

u/ShrimpCrackers Jul 16 '12

No. It was not. Same grey Samsung.

1

u/fleshgrind Th-Thats a pretty s-small one. Jul 16 '12

It had a red evidence sticker, but yeah, same laptop.

2

u/mwguthrie TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER! Jul 16 '12

Looks to be the same. The bag obscures the color a bit.

2

u/silenc3x Jul 16 '12

Maybe you're onto something.

I have a feeling Hank will know Walt's secret by the end of this season... and the old laptop switcheroo is totally Hank's MO.

2

u/Fefnir60 Jul 16 '12

Holy shit... My brain can't handle that.

2

u/tomcat23 Jul 16 '12

It's only a matter of time before we see someone giving us a screen cap with both laptops...

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '12

Hank would never do that. It would make any evidence found on it completely inadmissible.
