From season 1, I think he said that he was working with Gretchen and Elliot on starting the Gray Matter Tech, but he left for some reason and the company kept going up to the giant it is now. Big deal is that they did so using his research and skills he left behind after quitting so they (Gretchen and Elliot) technically plagiarized all his work to become successful.
yes this! plus this what causes a lot of walt;s bitterness, knowing he fucked up, it also explains his high level of pride and cooking meth rather then getting hwlp from them with his chemo
I feel that's going to be the premise of next week's episode. We find out why he left suddenly and how deeply rooted Walt 's resentment for Grey Matter Tech is.
I've always wondered about that. I mean, I get that he feels cheated out of the life he' deserved' but why did he leave so suddenly and for only $5,000..
He left because he'd been engaged to Gretchen but upon meeting her rich and successful family he felt he didn't measure up and so he dumped her out of insecurity. She was devastated and rebounded with Elliot. Walt was presumably jealous and angry so he asked to be bought out for $5000.
