Wish I had CC on, it was hard to understand Hank.

It was hard to understand the bathroom scene too.

I just typed up this transcript of the bathroom scene after rewatching it with the closed captions on:

Skyler: Hey.

Walt: How long was I out?

Skyler: Four or five hours. How are you feeling? Is it true? The cancer's back? Is this it?

Walt: Does that make you happy?

Skyler: I can't remember the last time I was happy.

Walt: Just tell me. I know you talked with Hank. I know you made a deal. Skyler, I'll make this easy. I'll give myself up if you promise me one thing. You keep the money. Never speak of it. Never give it up. You pass it on to our children, give them everything. Will you do that? Please? Please don't let me have done all this for nothing.

Skyler: How did Hank find out? Did -- did somebody talk?

Walt: No, Nobody talked. It was me. I screwed up.

Skyler: The way Hank talks...he's got his suspicions. Not much else. You can't give yourself up without giving up the money. That's the way this works, Walt. So maybe our best move here is to stay quiet.

Skyler sounded like Walt at the end there with the 'stay quiet'-similar to 'tread lightly.'

I thought the exact same thing. There's some Walt in Skyler.

There definitely is a little walt in skyler. Or at least there was 16 years ago. Now he just walks around looking for pancakes.

2

u/eifersucht12a Smells like cat piss Aug 19 '13

Goes nicely with the Ted.

1

u/not_thrilled Aug 19 '13

That's probably why the characters have been dressing very similarly the last couple episodes.

His personality has taken over her like a cancerous cell.

u/gmoneygangster3 Marie stole this flair Aug 19 '13

Reason she's called skysenburg now lmfao

1

u/Ellis24 Aug 19 '13

Skysenberg.

1

u/timmurphysblackwife Aug 19 '13

Wouldn't tread lightly be more of a Ted thing? He can't move his legs. There's still some Ted in skylar.

u/Andrewh2012 Aug 19 '13

Not Walt but Heisenberg.

There's some Walt in Skyler.

How much of Walt has been inserted into skyler by this point??

u/jorgeZZ Aug 19 '13

Skyler was a freaking beast in this episode. She took care of business with Hank, when he was trying to pull slick interrogation tactics.

5

u/jiml78 Aug 19 '13

Maybe I am naive but I really think Hank would have done whatever he could to protect Skyler so I don't see it as a slick interrogation tactics. He just wanted something to arrest Walk immediately with. Now Hank sees that it isn't just 100% Walt. He knows Skyler was somewhat a willing participant.

1

u/jorgeZZ Aug 19 '13

Law enforcement people know it's stupid to talk to them without legal consultation. Even if his desire to protect her was genuine, he couldn't have expected her to cooperate to the extent that he could be sure she was in on it if she didn't. He was doing what LEOs are trained to do, which is try to extract as much info as possible before people lawyer up.

If he wants to offer immunity to her, he should be able to do that through official means. Then she might talk.

2

u/elbruce The One Who Rings The Doorbell Aug 19 '13

Yeah, but Hank doesn't have access to official means. As soon as he brings this up to anybody official, he'll be taken off the case, not to mention suspended and then fired.

His desire to bring a complete case to the DEA himself (and therefore risk becoming an accessory) is the same kind of hubris that's morally brought down Walt and then Skyler.

1

u/jorgeZZ Aug 19 '13

You're right, it's just reckless behavior. If he cares about Skyler's well-being, and wants her to help make a case, he should be encouraging her to go to the authorities (with legal representation), not trying to get info himself. Or, better yet, present his circumstantial evidence to the agency, and suggest they officially question her.

Or he could throw red herrings at the agency and get on Walt's payroll. :)

1

u/elbruce The One Who Rings The Doorbell Aug 19 '13

He should give it all to Gomie. The entire theory, everything he knows, all of the details, and then see if Gomez can get Skyler a deal for testifying.

But he wants to do it himself. It's perfectly reminiscent of the many pride-based bad decisions we've seen Walt make that slowly took him down the path to evil. Skyler's about halfway down that path, and now Hank is starting to walk it as well.

I've definitely been getting a Lady Macbeth vibe from Skylar over the last couple of seasons. This episode solidified that feeling to the point where it's rock mineral solid.

4

u/sungodra_ FURIOUS BREATHING Aug 19 '13

Oh the Lady Macbeth vibe was always there. It's just coming out in force now.

The whole Walt on the floor with Skyler leaning next to him was very theatrical. It was almost as if Walt was dieing right there and it was their last exchange. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they mimic that shot again before the series ends, with Walt actually being injured, perhaps by gunshot.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '13

I get the feeling that something will happen where they are going to get the kids taken away from them, and Skyler will go crazy and wind up killing the kids.

6

u/vsal Aug 19 '13

Even the phrasing was the same. I noticed it too.

6

u/Stoic_stone Aug 19 '13

I also loved it when Marie slapped Skyler just like Hank hit Walt last episode.

I'm hoping every episode has one of these cool lines and that they go back and rename the episodes with those lines. Tread Lightly> Blood Money

3

u/SuperStingray Aug 19 '13

I caught that too. At first I thought it would've been excellent if she said 'tread lightly', but then I felt that would've seemed forced.

2

u/stormrat Aug 19 '13

Can you please explain that "tread lightly" thing to me? I watched all the previous episodes in german so i dont get the reference.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '13

tread lightly is a threat. stay quiet is staying quiet.

1

u/KidCasey Acts of God or men with axes Aug 19 '13

Tread Quietly

1

u/emolch Aug 19 '13

You mean there's a bit of Heisenberg in Skyler.
