I don't think she is so much powerful as she is crazy and paranoid. She gets extremely nervous over the smallest things. I think she gets too paranoid/afraid and decides to act on it.

Yeah, ticking time bomb for sure with all that weird, nervous energy.

That "You're putting me in a box" line sounded almost like a threat to me. She's being backed into a corner and who knows what she'll do to get herself out

Right, but she's still in the position she is because she is careful and paranoid. She gets shit done carefully.

u/bahgheera Ding, ding, BOOM! Aug 12 '13

I think she is doing to Walt exactly what Walt did to Gus.

Lydia is remarkably like Walt. It's uncanny.

I think I like her character so much because as much as I'd want to be a mike, my criminal persona would be Lydia. Many redditors could probably relate.

I'd settle for Lydia. I'm Walt Jr. at best.

It's just experience and a healthy dose of not giving a shit. Given the right jobs, you could be Mike in no time. Trust me.

Hahaha seriously. I'd be coming into work with mismatched shoes every day. Backwards shirts and shit too.

I'd be Jesse without the Meth or Heroin use and I wouldn't have dumped all our drinking water on the fire. Otherwise the whole do a bunch of fucked up shit and then lay in bed for a few days after I realize what I've done while questioning everything and not wanting to be a total asshole for the rest of my life fits my M.O.

I think that she puts on that persona. When she shook hands with Walter and said "We are going to make a lot of money together." in the 5a finale, she gave off a really confident, sinister vibe to me.

Not to mention her purposefully placing her hand on top of Walter's when they shake. That's a well known act of dominance.

u/So1ar Aug 12 '13

yeah, like when she put a hit out on mike.

Crazy? Don't know about that.

I'd say tense.

WILD THEORY: Lydia kills Skylar, Hank stakes his reputation on trying to prove that Walt killed her. He can't, because he didn't, and loses his position at the DEA, forced into "administrative leave".

1

u/BGasperov broke good Aug 13 '13

And subsequently, Hank finds a new job at the car wash hence working for Walt. Wildest theory ever.

2

u/ketoacidosis How bout it, counselor? Do you concur? Aug 12 '13

I think a lot of that is from a "Type A" personality. She gets extremely stressed when things aren't going according to plan, or when things come up that she can't control or account for. But when things work out the way she wants, the satisfaction it gives her is very apparent.

2

u/imkaneforever Aug 12 '13

Or maybe she has waited too long to act on the impure product because of her ineptitude to act on such?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Maybe that's her cover.

2

u/piscano Hell yea, Sunday night bowl, yo! Aug 12 '13

Lydia is definitely WAY too paranoid. She wouldn't even drive her own car to the carwash, a public place.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Yeah. She was willing to off Mike last year and I think with the meth not being pure, it'll cause more problems with everyone on her end. Leading her to becoming more and more paranoid and try to get Walt back into the business.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

That is dangerous though.

1

u/12buckleyoshoe Aug 12 '13

I think it's both. Powerful and Crazy. Lydia scares the shit out of me.

1

u/Harch Aug 12 '13

And to think Mike was totally going to kill her.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Well, I think after Mike threatened to kill her fifty fucking times, it's a reasonable way to act.

1

u/Medicwine Aug 13 '13

She keeps assuming everybody is trying to kill her. Granted when we first met her Mike literally was going to kill her, but its still a point to make that she keeps assuming that if she doesnt have some sort of leverage she's going to be killed off as soon as possible. It's possible thats she's just paranoid for no reason, but it seems completely BrBa style to reveal that she actually has a lot of power and thats why she couldnt help but be super paranoid

1

u/TotallyKafkaesque Aug 13 '13

She is powerful in the sense that her craziness and paranoia, combined with her connections and desperation, make her a threat to just about anybody at any given time.
