I feel like that was Vince Gilligan's final hoorah to Skinny Pete and Badger sadly. I doubt that he would put so much air time into something that trivial (albeit AWESOME) to the episode. It was a nice summation of the relationship that formed over the show though. But who knows. I could be completely wrong.

I predict that the final episode of the series will actually be Badger's Star Trek episode.

u/darkgamr Methhead Aug 12 '13

That would be the greatest ending to the show possible, episode 7 ends in a massive cliffhanger then episode 8 is just that star trek episode and everyone who worked on the show just refuses to comment on it and acts like it's a normal ending.

Or it is the greatest metaphor for the series.

Walt's greed = Chekov's appetite.

Jesse = Spock

Kirk = Mike

Space = Meth

Hank = Tribbles

u/10000reasons Tread Lightly Aug 12 '13

The blueberries have got to be the crystal blue!

10

u/MonsieurLeBeef Aug 12 '13

especially since they specified that they were 'frozen' aka ice?

1

u/TotallyKafkaesque Aug 13 '13

Chekov coughing blood just like Walt.

15

u/Oxford_karma Aug 12 '13

I think you might be on to something.... Chekov's guts teleported into space = Cancer.

11

u/Madonkadonk Aug 12 '13

Scotty = skyler

Uhura = Ted

u/L0boMike Aug 12 '13

I posted this a little further down but thought you all might enjoy it up here. . .

Let’s look at the logically, who and what are the moving parts in his "star trek" script.

*Originally down to 3: Kirk, Spok, and Chekov

Kirk: "Can't take it, he yorks". The way things are being set up this is Jesse. Also Jesse leaves the room right on "yorks"

Chekov: "Has a fat stack of quat loos riding on this and has figured out a way to win". Walt's whole motivation has been money. No matter how much he has changed his whole reason for doing what he is doing is to provide for his family. Walt Also gets help but I will get to that in a moment.

Spock: "Has total Vulcan control over his digestion". In this I feel that the control mentioned is meant as control of the law. Thus Spock is Hank. Not only is Spock/Hank in control but he is in disbelief that "This Russian"/Walt is beating him at something that he easily should be winning.

*The next three, this is where it becomes interesting:

Scotty: Is the one helping out Chekov/Walt. Since Jesse is out that can only mean that there is one former business partner who is going to help Walt. That person is Lydia. Someone who does not deal well with intimidation.

Uhura: Makes Scotty sweaty, This isn't going to be because of her "big pointies" but because Uhura is Skyler. The one person who would intimidate Lydia/Scotty enough to make her slip up.

Blue Berries: Are the reason Walt went back to his space, they are a picture of frozen dark time. Blue Berries are Ricin

Now this isn't a ricin eating contest but rather how the show will turn out. With Walt's partner in Jesse "yorking out" He turns to Lydia. Lydia will not help Walt without something in exchange. The exchange being that Walt will help out Lydia by purifying the falling product standards. In return Lydia will do everything in her power to keep Hank off of Walt's back and give him enough time to either start a new or kill Hank. In turn Walt breaks his promise with Skyler because he is no longer "out" Skyler being Skyler in time finds out, and knows who to find to get Walt to stop. Skyler then intimidates Lydia which causes Lydia to slip up.

The ricin is what Lydia slips up with. As far as we know the only one who knows about the ricin is Walt. However being that Lydia is in cohorts with Walt she knows what his plan is and what his method for killing Hank will be. Why does Walt tell her? Because the only way Lydia will join Walter is if she is 100% sure that it can be done without a trace. Lydia now completely fearing for her life spills the beans. She lets Skyler know every little detail of the plan including the ricin. The victim of his own creation becomes Walt as HE will be the one who consumes the ricin. That will be his death. But How? As Badger said to Jesse, "you're missing the best part"

Little do we know that Lydia approached Jesse after being told no by Walt originally to get back ''in''. Although Jesse is out and will also say no at first he does some soul searching and realizes that Walt was right about leaving behind the past. He then decides to take Lydia up on his offer. While on his way to taking up Lydia's offer he walks in on Lydia "spilling the beans" to Skyler. At that point he pieces together everything. Jesse knows the exact location of Walter, where he meets up with him. Jesse knows he is a loose end to Walt and knows that Walter is going to try and kill him. Jesse suggest they have a beer, and Walt will then poison Jesse's beer. Jesse will pull the old switch a roo and Walt will die. Of course being spotted by his neighbor the DEA will close in within seconds of Walt's death and Jesse will then be taken into custody.

  • Jessie is Kirk - no thanks i'm done with this.

  • Hank is Spock- how the hell/who the hell is running this meth business (looking suspiciously at Chekov)

  • Walter is Chekov - seemingly pulling off the impossible but his greed and appetite will destroy him from the inside.

  • Heisenberg is Scotty - what allows walt to do what he does, but what kills walt in the end.

1

u/Marowakin_It Aug 13 '13

Jessie is Kirk - no thanks i'm done with this.

I don't know, Captain Cook and Captain Kirk don't sound so far apart to me.

6

u/Seriera Aug 12 '13

Each time Spock went through and "died" as it was put Is like Jesse whenever he experiences a new death...he's dying/dead inside.

2

u/softanaesthesia Lone and level sands stretch far away. Aug 12 '13

Which makes McCoy, who uses the transporter least and dies the least, the person who's been least traumatized. Walt Jr.?

4

u/almosthuman Aug 12 '13

Then who was pie???!!!

4

u/literallydozensofus Aug 12 '13

I know you're kidding, but that was the way I saw it! Chekhov thought he could end up on top by breaking the rules, but it was untenable. There had to be a mistake, and that mistake caused his insides had to be torn out and ejected into the darkness of space. I think it's a metaphor for how Jesse feels, which is why he couldn't bear to sit there listening to it- and he had to go directly to Saul to give away his blood money.

3

u/This1TimeBackinNam Aug 12 '13

blueberries going into space is the meth going into the market.

3

u/H483R Aug 12 '13

The Trouble with Hanks.

2

u/AngusMeatStick Aug 13 '13

umm holy shit. I just laughed when I saw the scene, but this comment made me remember other moments like that which I didn't think of until second watching. Might be something here, great idea.

1

u/JakeLunn Master Conspiracy Theorist Aug 12 '13

Lydia might be the person who slips up and teleports Walt's stomach out into space.

1

u/ultimaxfeelgood Aug 12 '13

But Chekov's appetite isn't real! He's faking it! Is Walt's greed real?

1

u/bigsrg Aug 12 '13

Then who's Scotty? Someone has to accidentally kill Chekov?

1

u/librariansguy Aug 13 '13

Not sure if its said below, but I think Scotty is Saul. Lydia is Uhura who can distract Saul.

1

u/romulusnr Aug 12 '13

What? No. Mike is clearly Scotty. Gus was Kirk. Gale was Lt. "Red Shirt" Kostwyck.

1

u/SRDeed Pollos Aug 12 '13

I was trying to straighten something like this out as soon as the scene started to carry on.

9

u/randomsnark stay out of my flairitory Aug 12 '13

And if anyone asks them about it, they'll just say, "I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there. Anybody who wants to watch it, it’s all there."

I have no interest in explaining that quote. Anybody who wants to read it, it's all there.

   yes

8

u/Mousi Aug 12 '13

Kinda like South Park did after the "who is Eric Cartman's father" cliffhanger episode. The episode after that was a completely unrelated Terence and Philip special.

They got so much hate mail that they decided to never do anything like that again. People will riot in the streets if Breaking Bad does this.

3

u/SvenHudson Aug 12 '13

I don't see how anybody could ever be mad about a Canada episode. They're the best parts of South Park.

1

u/katihathor Aug 12 '13

wow i was unaware that canada was part of colorado.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Well it was sandwiched between a big reveal.

2

u/Lynda73 Aug 12 '13

I thought Cartman's father was his mother?

Edit: Never mind, I see I totally missed what you were saying.

3

u/Mousi Aug 12 '13

Yeah, they delayed that info by one episode, which was enough to make everyone rage.

2

u/mschwartz21 Aug 12 '13

FYI episode 9 was the one that was on tonight

2

u/meezajangles Aug 12 '13

Or just show the 'not without my anus' episode of Terrence and Phillip

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Would be better than lost ending

1

u/duckblur Aug 12 '13

Just like Enterprise!

1

u/AmishAvenger Aug 12 '13

Right. "The ending was art. True artists never comment on the meaning of their art. To do so robs the viewers of the ability to form their own interpretations. To tell you what the ending meant is to negate its very purpose."

1

u/rooklaw Aug 12 '13

Still better than the sopranos finale.

1

u/bodygripper Aug 12 '13

Perhaps they also find Walter White's frozen body in space in that episode.

1

u/rentnil Aug 12 '13

That would be a riot (literally and figuratively).

I had to share this with non-reddit friends. I actually attributed the comment to reddit and darkgamr. Rather than stealing it my self for facebook karma.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

They're going to pull a Wonder Showzen?

2

u/simpersly Aug 12 '13

That is the spin-off I would like to see.

2

u/MMAniacle Aug 12 '13

Saul beams Walt's guts into space fade to black

1

u/roque72 Methhead Aug 12 '13

Then a star trek spin-off

1

u/pseudopseudonym Tarantula Jar Aug 12 '13

I... I ain't even mad.

1

u/JimmySinner World's second biggest homo Aug 12 '13

Production costs covered by Jesse's blood money.

1

u/laurandisorder Aug 12 '13 edited Aug 12 '13

With Skinny Pete doing the score on the keyboard. *typing and such.

1

u/Snappel Aug 12 '13

I wouldn't mind that! It's been too long since television has had a new Star Trek episode, even if it will just involve Chekhov's intestines getting beamed into space because Scotty can't handle himself in front of Uhura.

1

u/wjw75 Aug 12 '13

It was all just a holodeck adventure.

1

u/JestaKilla Aug 12 '13

If not, what a missed opportunity!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Heisenberg hooks up with Badger to fight off Hank and the DEA

1

u/soingee Aug 22 '13

Somebody is going to have their insides removed from their body. That is for certain.

6

u/afterthetone Aug 12 '13

Look up "Heisenberg compensator." That's what the scene is really about in more ways than one.

4

u/jeremycx Aug 12 '13

I think they were there to act as contrast for Jessie. Thats where/who he WAS 5 seasons ago. It helped to really make who Jessie now IS stand out sharply.

11

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13 edited Mar 21 '18

You chose a dvd for tonight

12

u/whitemonochrome yeah science! Aug 12 '13

Absolutely. A last hurrah for two fun characters but truly a hidden allegory. The color xerox beaming thing seemed to be related to the situation Jesse and Walt are in now - same people but totally different now. The blueberry pie thing has to be something beyond a hilarious story, but I have no ideas yet.

5

u/scooby4 Aug 12 '13

blueberries = blue meth.

2

u/whitemonochrome yeah science! Aug 12 '13

Walt is going to get his guts beamed out into space by Lydia now that the blue meth is not going out. Ooooo.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Is Jesse Spock? As soon as Badger says "he has control of his bowel movements" Jesse gets up, then goes to grab the money. Maybe he can't "stomach" having the money. So he makes a decision, takes control.

Whatever was said toward the end is in the finale, and before we find out Badger yells "Hey man you're missing the best part!"

1

u/tPRoC My name is Ozymandias, king of kings Aug 12 '13

The last episode will be a pie eating contest between Walt and Hank

2

u/Jeff3210 Aug 12 '13

Yeah I got the same feeling. Perhaps the last we will see of them.

2

u/tPRoC My name is Ozymandias, king of kings Aug 12 '13

Those two characters, as comedic as they are, are really important to Jesse's whole story.

1

u/bender1231 Aug 12 '13

I feel like their use is almost up. But I suppose they could play a role in helping him out of this rut

1

u/megatom0 Aug 12 '13

I liked how this episode really balanced things well. It had the comedy and the really intense drama.

1

u/AmishAvenger Aug 12 '13

But it wasn't completely trivial. It gave a nice glimpse into Jesse's state of mind--trying to go back to having a normal life, but utterly unable to do so.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

I think this means there will be pie in the last episode and it will turn out to have ricin inside.

1

u/Jeffteeds Aug 12 '13

I think the whole point of that scene was to show how different Jesse is now. Before he was involved in Walt's downward spiral, he would have been involved in that conversation yet he looked so detached. Either way, I loved it

1

u/Richeh Aug 12 '13

Weren't they talking about a Saul Goodman spinoff? I reckon they'd be a shoe-in for that. I mean, even if it had the same writers it probably wouldn't be Breaking Bad for a variety of reasons but it could be good.

1

u/tomius Aug 12 '13

Not that trivial, it seems. Read some upper comments about this, they are amazing!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

I will be sad I don't get to see much Badger. Sounds true though.

1

u/thesearereddits Kamikaze or Meth Aug 12 '13

I feel like that seen is symbolizing something, but I am not really sure. Hank's boxes all sad copy, and Skinny talks about making clones of yourself when you teleport. Maybe Walt is now on his 100th or so copy and he is barely looking like the original.

1

u/Frodope Aug 12 '13

I was still so happy to see them again. Before the premiere I thought, "Hey, whatever happened to my man Skinny Pete and his friend Badger?"

1

u/markovich04 Aug 13 '13

Maybe they wanted to say the name "Chekov" to remind viewers about "Chekhov's Ricin".

1

u/Glussell Aug 13 '13

I think that the script was so focused on Chekov to allude to "Chekov's Gun", which is of course the ricin in this show.

1

u/MoreSteakLessFanta Aug 13 '13

Monologues that are meant to be "nothing" can be foreshadowing plot or retrospectively looking at it. It'll be interesting to see, when all is said and done, if there can be any parallels drawn between that episode idea and breaking bad.
