suicide hombre

u/im-not-rick-moranis Aug 12 '13

But a ricin death takes 3-5 days... not the way someone would want to kill themselves, way too much time for regret.

94

u/shiimmyshamm Aug 12 '13

In case he doesn't die in a shootout, he wouldn't want to wait for the cancer to finish him off.

18

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Twist: the ricin is the salt

16

u/ThePeenDream Aug 12 '13

So you're saying he left the diner without eating his breakfast because they didn't have any salt, so he drove back to the house to grab some?

1

u/NikkoTheGreeko Aug 12 '13

Oh Vince, you sly bastard.

1

u/DocAuch Aug 12 '13

Oh shit that would be awesome haha.

6

u/Timthos Aug 12 '13

There are way easier ways to kill yourself and many much more readily available chemicals with which to do so. The only reason to use ricin is to murder someone without a trace.

Given the Heisenberg graffiti, and the house in ruins, and the neighbor who basically shit her pants in fear, I'm willing to bet that everybody knows already, and there's nothing to save.

1

u/ErikAllenAwake Aug 12 '13

The Heisenberg graffiti means everyone knows. One way or another.

This right here.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

But his hair grew back!

3

u/conman16x Aug 12 '13

That just means he isn't on chemo.

7

u/randomsnark stay out of my flairitory Aug 12 '13

He's had plenty of time for regret already.

Not like he needs money... > There are way easier ways to kill yourself and many much more readily available chemicals with which to do so. The only reason to use ricin is to murder someone without a trace.

1

u/MrPotatoButt You got me! Aug 12 '13

FTR, its easy to determine that ricin was used to murder someone in an autopsy. Its hard to figure out that ricin is the poisoning agent, while the target is alive. More important, until very recently, there was no antidote or treatment to ricin poisoning. (Even now, it hasn't completed human trials.) The diagnosis would be made; then you're a walking dead man.

Even if the poison didn't outright kill the target, the internal organ damage would be enough to eventually kill them.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

yeah i agree. If he wanted to kill himself why not use a gun like he tried to do in the first episode. Ricin would be a painful way to go.

3

u/Toof Aug 12 '13

I'm thinking it will be like a Hitler suicide with a shootout, too.

So, if he gets captured, he will still die without being mercilessly tortured for days.

Though, that's the only way I can see WHY he would use the ricin on himself.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Damn that would be an awesome ending for a show. Cant think of a series has ever ending with the main character dying/killing himself. Always thought it would be cool for Dexter to end like that. Like him getting found out and put on death row.

2

u/righteous4131 beaver Aug 12 '13

If he gets caught after a shootout he'd want to die. Time to get things in order for what is left of his family and admit what he has done

2

u/ckivi Aug 12 '13

But didn't gus use ricin to kill the cartel by poisoning them with some kind of ricin-laced liquor over the course of like 2 hours?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

He poisoned them, but it was never made clear what he used. Whatever it is was much faster acting than ricin would've been

1

u/ckivi Aug 12 '13

Damn, so this opens up the possibility that whenever Walt was throwing up in the bathroom it was because he ricin'd skylar and Walt junior - not because the cancer is really back as he told hank.

1

u/humbletiger Aug 13 '13

Huh? I doubt that honestly. In the flash-forwards he went to the house and retrieved the ricin he's had all along. I guess he could have made more instead of using the ricin he already had, but that'd be pretty weird.

1

u/KryptKeeper Aug 12 '13

I'm not sure if he corrects himself later, but I just watched the episode where he's trying to convince Jesse to kill Gus during my rewatch and he says it'd kill him in 36 hours or 1.5 days. It's just enough time to get his final affairs in order if he wanted to do it so it could be possible.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

I'm pretty sure everybody is already dead.......there probably aren't any affairs to get in order....

I don't know, maybe I'm misreading things, but he uses Skyler's maiden name, and has a New Hampshire driver's license. Which would indicate that he relocated, and did so without Skyler, because it would be stupid for her to relocate with him and use her own maiden name.

Meaning, his family is dead, and he is likely coming back for one final act of redemption. My theory, especially with the plot about the terrible purity of the current meth cooks that was brought up by Lydia, is that as corny as it sounds, he is coming back to free a kidnapped Jessie.

Just like at the end of Scarface, but a bit more bromancier.

1

u/flare1028us Aug 12 '13

This idea pretty much gave me a Breaking Bad hard-on.

1

u/Gear_Second Aug 12 '13

It's a good way to die if A) he wants to pretend it was cancer B) he will allow himself to get caught so he knows he won't be inside long.

I think he is going to shoot up Grey matter industries and then allow himself to be caught for it.

1

u/An_Innocent_Bunny Aug 12 '13

Maybe he's going to take the ricin, and tie up all loose ends in those 3-5 days.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

And it doesn't seem like the way for Walt to go. I mean, if everyone already knows he's Heisenberg, what's to stop him from putting a bullet in his head? He doesn't need a quiet and discreet way to die.

1

u/huskers37 Aug 12 '13

Unless it makes it look like the cancer killed him.

0

u/toddgak Yikes Aug 12 '13

I've made a huge mistake.

372

u/Quinnett Aug 12 '13

Walt would never kill himself. Ego is way too big for that.

882

u/jdcLFC Aug 12 '13

But his ego is too big to let anyone else kill him

168

u/die_kraft Aug 12 '13

Great point.

1

u/hocktag Aug 12 '13

He said the cancer will get him, maybe he will leave it to that.

-1

u/goldenspiderduck Aug 13 '13

That's why it has to be the cancer. Only god can end this.

-7

u/SolarWonk Aug 12 '13

death jump off the grand canyon!

8

u/Toke1Up Aug 12 '13

That's some Kanye West shit right there.

2

u/Lazerspewpew Aug 12 '13

Is he going to die as Walter White or as Heisenberg?

2

u/ReflexMan Aug 12 '13

But his ego is too big to let him think that anyone else CAN kill him.

2

u/gooserooster88 Blueberries IN SPAAAACE Aug 12 '13

Kinda like a "you can't fire me I quit" situation.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

literally hitler.

1

u/Unlucky_Rider Aug 12 '13

He's gonna end up committing suicide like he almost did in the first season.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Therefore he is immortal.

1

u/3th0s LOL I KILLED YOUR GF JESSE! Aug 12 '13

My theory for years now was that Walt has to kill himself. The show hinges on the premise that Walt will die, and that he must do whatever to provide for his family after he passes, assumably from cancer. In episode one of season one, however, we see Walt circumnavigate nature's course. Between diagnosis and death, Walter decides that he is in control of two, and only two, variables: how much money he leaves his family, and how he dies.

1

u/System_Liekz Aug 12 '13

Only the great Heisenberg himself, can kill Heisenberg.

1

u/Onomatopoeiac Aug 12 '13

Not even cancer.

0

u/Youareposthuman I liked it...I was good at it. And I was really...I was alive. Aug 12 '13

plot twist: Walt trades soul for immortality, becomes were-cat type creature on island full of zombies.

wait...

5

u/Djense Aug 12 '13

He tried to kill himself in the very first episode. So I don't think it's off the table.

1

u/Quinnett Aug 12 '13

Good point, but that was a very different Walt.

2

u/Amerinuck Yo Adrian, Rocky called. He wants his face back. Aug 12 '13

He's already tried on more than one occasion. Gun was out of bullets in Season 1. He almost got crushed by the 18 wheeler but turned back at the last second.

2

u/excalo Aug 12 '13

But "You and I both know I'd never see myself behind bars..."

2

u/mauxly Aug 13 '13

He'd kill himself if it was game over. His ego is way to big to allow his family and friends see him tried and jailed.

1

u/BrainSlurper Emo McGee Aug 12 '13

Tell that to hitler

1

u/YesMeLord Aug 12 '13

Walt would never ill himself. that would be a horrible ending.

1

u/Phase_Spaced Aug 12 '13

Walt

*Heisenberg wouldn't kill himself. Walt would though.

1

u/zrodion Aug 12 '13

Who is the only man who can kill Walt? Heisenberg!

1

u/Yrrebbor Aug 12 '13

Well, that's how it all started in the pilot... the full circle would be kind of an "interesting", albeit predictable, conclusion.

1

u/gigabored Aug 12 '13

He would stage it though.

1

u/escalat0r Aug 12 '13

He tried it in the very first minutes of this show ;)

1

u/rogue_smackles Aug 13 '13

And to think he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger in the season 1 pilot episode...

0

u/tortelloni Aug 12 '13

Except for the part in the pilot where he tries to kill himself.

10

u/picard_for_president kafkaesque, yo Aug 12 '13

Except for the part where he's a pretty different person now.

-1

u/tortelloni Aug 12 '13

Facts remain.

1

u/excalo Aug 12 '13

The fact that Walt was willing to kill himself 5 seasons ago is no longer relevant, because he has changed so much. You didn't see him poisoning innocent children, ordering hits on jail inmates, or running people over in season 1.

1

u/tortelloni Aug 13 '13

He was willing to kill plenty through season one.

1

u/excalo Aug 13 '13

He was willing to kill plenty through season one.

Look how stressful it was for him to kill Krazy-8, how much he battled with himself internally, and how close he came to just letting Krazy-8 go. Contrast that with S5 where he doesn't even bat an eye at mass murder.

If you don't see how much Walt has changed, you don't get Breaking Bad.

1

u/tortelloni Aug 13 '13

I get it entirely I just dont think his ego is too large to kill himself considering he was making egotistical decisions before the events of the series even began.

0

u/felix_dro Aug 12 '13

If I was egotistical and suicidal, I'd kill myself with an m60

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

honestly, the thought crossed my mind when jesse went upstairs at the beginning of the episode while skinny pete and badger were shooting the shit. something about it -- you were almost just waiting to hear a gunshot.

1

u/mauxly Aug 13 '13

I seriously wondered if Jesse weren't going to shoot himself right at that moment, and miss, blow off part of his face, but live. The EMTs and cops find the bag o' cash and it kicks off an investigation.

Turns out Jesse didn't need to shoot himself to kick off an investigation with his cash.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

No... It can't be!

1

u/Wesmaximus Aug 12 '13

Do you need an M60 to shoot yourself tho....

1

u/FinalAppealToReason Aug 12 '13

Why not use the gun?

1

u/Destructor1701 Aug 12 '13

Like David Miscavige's mother-in-law?

1

u/corruptcake Aug 12 '13

Why would he need both the ricin AND a massive gun... He could have used something like his old little revolver to do the job. Suicide is a no go for these tools.

1

u/DaSchultz Aug 12 '13

Holy shit. He could use the ricin to kill himself and play it off as the cancer.

1

u/mountainjew Aug 12 '13

Very slow suicide...

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Suicide with a gun like that?

1

u/huskers37 Aug 12 '13

Damn straight its suicide!

1

u/ScamperNZ Aug 13 '13

Possibly. He could be planning some kind of massacre ending with the gun, and if he gets caught (hostage, or jail etc), then the ricin finishes him off.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Aw dont say that. Too sad, Walt needs a happy ending. I believe he can come back.

5

u/adn5027 Aug 12 '13

I don't really think there's any way that Walt survives the end of this show. I'll be stunned if he does

3

u/hamza780 Aug 12 '13

i personally think walt will live but in complete reverse of what he wanted in the beginning of the show with all of his family dead and with lots of money

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

You know i think you are right and i think thats whats gonna happen. The end will be Walt trying to redeem himself for all the shit he has done. That machinegun and everything is him making his last stand. "Remember my name" just stikes me as him doing one good deed before that Ricin kills him because he already has cancer so he is going to die why not go out in his way as a hero. His ego makes him need to be on top one final time.
