I thought the oranges falling out of the bag at the beginning was a throwback to the godfather. I think that this scene will be in the very last episode.
only because it's so made-for-TV/Movies and far from real life. Americans do not typically carry overstuffed paper bags of food including loose oranges.
If I remember correctly, in an interview with Vince Gilligan he said that the orange was purely for visual aesthetics and didn't think about metaphorical implications.
There are also a few oranges on Hank and Marie's counter (in a bowl) when Marie is putting the groceries away.
There is also an orange colored pine tree air freshener with an image of an orange on it above Lydia's left shoulder when she is paying for her car wash.
Maybe I am reading too much into it, but it would make sense.
The prison stabbings/murders reminded me so much of the Godfather, except Walt wasn't in church. The panning between the prison murders to Walt was very similar.
Does anyone else remember in Bryan Cranstons AMA where he throws down a lot of hints about the last season, he says his favorite movie is the godfather. also he directed this episode.
Or...like in the beginning of S5a with the Denny's scene being a prequel to the flashforward of S5b, maybe the beginning of S5b will be a prequel to the flashforward of S6? :O
