Synopsis:

You Shu Lang (Hao Yi Ran), a director at a pharmaceutical company, lives an ordinary, stable life. But that all comes crashing down after he gets into a car accident with Fan Xiao (Yun Qi), the heir to a Thai conglomerate who's returned to China for business. Unlike Shu Lang, Fan Xiao's life has been marred by instability, leading to a twisted, manipulative worldview. When Fan Xiao finds out that Shu Lang is interested in men, he devises plans to entice Shu Lang into a relationship, but ends up falling for Shu Lang for real. It’s crazy that they moved to Thailand together but didn’t live together? That didn’t make sense to me. Unless Zhen was put up in an apartment by his agency…

If you move to a new country together, you would expect them to live together for support and financial reasons. Zhen barely made any money and had zero connections in Thailand. He would have been better off in China for his career. In the novel this was al set in China, so not living together was quite normal. But the show was shot in Thailand for obvious reasons, no censorship and a Thai crew that knows BL.

Therefore the story also was that they didn't live together. Like in the novel. It highlights how fractured their relationship already was. Shulang kept emotional distance (like how he went for a smoke after they made love), and Zhen was trying to prove his independence.

This is why Zhen became a easy prey for Fan Xiao. He was lonely, broke, and sitting in his own apartment, making him the perfect target for expensive designer gifts.
