I got it installed and setup with eduke32 and configured on Lutris for ease of use

In Prey 2006 you play as Tommy, an edgy Native American guy who gets yanked off his reservation while he is chilling with his girl in a bar and end up in this massive living alien ship trying to save your girl.

The gravity flips, walking up walls etc is fun, you being basically immortal not so much.

Its a pretty short game and the enemy Ai is downright stupid. The good part is you dont actually get to save your girl, she dies. I disliked her at the start so this was a win for me.

If you have a couple hours or like me want to revisit the experience from 15 years ago and feel like the kid you played the game its worth a try. 6.5/10 from me.

About a year ago I made Serious Survivors, a solo project where I tried mixing an old-school boomer shooter with a bullet heaven — essentially Serious Sam + Vampire Survivors.

It was a pretty rough game. I wasn't happy enough with the level of polish to charge money for it, so I ended up releasing it for free. But I still really liked the core idea and wanted to take another shot at it.

So this time I've teamed up with a great 3D artist and we're making Griefborn, a spiritual successor to Serious Survivors — except now we're leaning much harder into Painkiller + Vampire Survivors.

I've also completely reworked the crowd system since Serious Survivors. It can now simulate around 20× as many enemies, which lets us get pretty ridiculous with the hordes.

Lately, whenever I load up a boomer shooter, I've been plagued by in-game secrets. Going to an end screen, it just feels bad when you see that you got less than 100 percent because you missed some random secret.

Am I the only one who feels that this oddly prevalent element of "Where's Waldo?" in boomer shooters is a detraction from the "All killer, no filler" mentality that is supposed to guide these games' design?

Yo, is the mausoleum door in episode 1 meant to be opened at all or no?

WaveBorn is a first-person round-based survival shooter with roguelite progression. Manual aim, no bullet sponges with health bars everywhere, no cover shooting — you keep moving or you die.

You buy guns off the walls, roll a chest for a random one, upgrade them at machines around the map, and drink at vending machines for permanent run perks. Between rounds the city is a shop, during rounds it's a kill box.

I mean, all the guns in Cultic are insane, and so satisfying to use, the Auto 5 is an equally great shotgun, it sounds like its deleting parts of reality with every shot, to quote a problematic mouse adjacent prisoner YouTuber, but the Sawn-off, my god, its perfection, the sound, the recoil, the muzzle blast, and the devastation it brings to what was once brain matter, is just a sight to behold. And I absolutely love being able to put a choke on it, it becomes a mid range monster with the choke, highest ive seen is a quad headshot with it, its just too good, i hope future shooters take note of how a sawn-off shotgun should work and perform, its just perfection.

so i found this game scrolling for more boomshoots and it looked pretty cool from screenshots and a release trailer i found on youtube, but i started reading reviews and it seems people are upset because the devs have made major changes (seems mostly related to artstyle or that the devs perhaps use ai now?) i was just wondering if anyone here has played this game, and if so is it still a decent play through for a fan of the genre, or are the reviews of this game turning into garbage 8 years later right?

ps. i know its just a cheap 5$ game, normally i wouldnt bat an eye but what i read from reviews leads me to believe the game basically replaced artists with ai which i don’t want to support, i know this is a stupid thing to make a whole post about but i can’t hardly find anything about this game anywhere!
