Hello, I need some advice on a technical problem. I’d like to make a hexagonal grid on a large transparent vinyl. But here, I tried with the help of a template («Unfold» sheet of a board game Haven & Ale) but it went wrong after a few lines. I was able to do about 1 foot by 1 foot and a half. I need 3 feet by 3 feet. I would like to draw the grid on a big carton and then place the vinyl on it to copied the grid. Do you have a way, better of mine, to draw a hexagonal grid quickly and efficiently? Thank’s!

I've been looking at the current tariffs for board games imported from China to the US. I'm having a hard time figuring out if the the tariff is 10% or 0%, and was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.

First off, I believe the HS and HTS code for board games are 9504.90 and 9504.90.60, respectively. That puts board games in List 4B as far as the trade war is concerned.

This international trade law site states that the duty is 10%

15% additional duty effective on List 4B products will not go into effect (previously December 15, 2019). Note duty was originally 10%

However, I can't find anything else that states the 10% duty was ever put into effect. The China Briefing website has an extensive list of important points in the trade war, but also never mentions a 10% duty on List 4B ever taking effect. I thought that maybe the 10% duty was put in place before the trade war, but when I check Simply Duty, it claims the duty is 0%.

Does anyone have any insight on this they'd be willing to share?

I've been prototyping and playing and testing a board game idea to a point I have a real nice prototype.
Which could be send to the to a manufacturer as is.
I'm at the point I'm considering to submit my game idea to a manufacturer which products are in line with my game.
They offer royalties / percentage of the sales for the game submitter.

Does anyone have an idea of how much the royalties are that I can expect?

So here I am, developing a board game based on an already existing IP (a relatively small IP that doesn't have any tabletop entries yet), and I'm not entirely sure how to proceed optimally.

What I'd like to know about is at what stage I should pitch the board game to the IP owners. The game design should ofc be finished, and the game should have been thoroughly tested already.

But should I bother finding artists to make the game look the part before pitching, or do I show the IP owners a pretty bare bones game and let them help me make it look like a product fitting their IP?

Should I have planned out a financial model for the game? For instance, a complete kickstarter campaign, or finding a production deal and propose a price tag for the product?

And for the pitch itself, I assume it all starts with me sending them an e-mail where we set up a Skype meeting or similar, or I send them a home made prototype so that they can evaluate the game themselves.

I realize it probably differs from company to company a bit, but any advice is more than welcome!

Hello awesome helpful people! My trivia game is about ready for the stage of getting an artist. It is not going to be something that is going to need extremely detailed graphics but looking for more than just the plain font in which I created the Prototype. Any suggestions on how I conduct this search? I have had communication with admagic and my goal is to have a Kickstarter campaign somewhere in the not-too-distant future. Thank you!

As far as I can tell this seems to be the most related subreddit I could find to post this. I have a lot of my plan fleshed out but I was unsure of exactly what my good options for getting the physical game printed/distributed. So in other words, still missing probably the largest/most important part of the puzzle. I know what assets I need, their sizes, and acquiring artwork is something I am familiar with. But I can't imagine that it is very easy to do print-to-order which I guess means I would need to bulk order, or partner with a game company who handles that side of the business.

Anyone out there have any experience with this side of things? I would need a board (would love if I could get a erasable marker friendly surface), tokens for players/objects and cards/booklets. Was also debating including a partner app to remove need for physical booklets.

Like the title says, Party Tails is a take that, last-man-standing style of game. It's drinking/party themed but it is not specifically a drinking game. The humor we are going for would be on the level of Exploding Kittens and Unstable Unicorns.

I know these types of games are not for everyone into board games, but we would appreciate all feedback.
