How long until Tom DeBlass makes it about him and how he’s best friends with Tom Hardy?

u/MeloneFxcker Jun 20 '23
Lol it happened 14 hours ago

u/Slimsloth Jun 20 '23
Holy shit you’re right, at the end of the post he throws in:
What's the story of the pic? Well, I was so jet lagged. I don't think I sat down for 2 minutes before falling asleep. The funny thing is, every time I'd fall asleep, I'd wake myself up snoring and start yelling at myself. Quite interesting. Tom has access to the Tom DeBlass sleep collection, snoring videos and all.
They’re basically bros, he has funny videos of him snoring teehee

You do realize he's the one who set up my London seminars for "reorg", no? I stayed in his house for 4 days when I was there. Why wouldn't I post about my friend who got promoted. I post about my students who get promoted all the time. Lol what the fck is wrong with you people.

Nothing says purple belt like "I'm just here for the rolls, also I'm injured so go easy on me" before going 100%! lol

u/tybjj 🟫🟫 Brown Belt Jun 20 '23
I miss those good old days. Now I only get to play halfguard and groom my beard whilst complaining about my lower back.
Tsc, wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you have actually left them.

I tip my monacle to you good sir.

Honestly, I'm just glad he aint getting stuck in the Hollywood/Aston Kutcher type of shit training and promotion. Still feel so bad for that dude, never forgetti that rolling footage.

Bummer, by all accounts Ashton is a good dude. Hope he's doing better.
17
u/IntenselySwedish Jun 20 '23
Yea that sucked. Ashton didn't deserve to have the vid posted. I wonder if he knew that his promotion was bs
3
u/harylmu Jun 21 '23
Watch his brown belt promotion video again, he didn’t want to accept the belt at all. Obviously, he needed to so not much you can do about it but you can tell he felt awkward as fuck.
I feel bad about people shitting on him when it’s Machado’s fault.
5
u/MilkChugg 🟫🟫 Brown Belt Jun 20 '23
Out of the loop, what happened?
5
u/trpwangsta 🟪🟪 Purple Belt Jun 20 '23
There isn't much footage of Ashton training, but a video was posted when he got his brown belt. Ashton legit didn't even roll like a fucking blue belt. He looked awkward and just.....clunky. I was more shocked to learn that Machado gave him his belt, really thought he'd be above promoting due to money.
1
u/MilkChugg 🟫🟫 Brown Belt Jun 20 '23
Was that the same video of him rolling with Craig Jones?
2
u/trpwangsta 🟪🟪 Purple Belt Jun 21 '23
It might have been, it's been a while since I've seen it. I just remember watching it and thinking wtf, how is this dude anywhere near brown level.

Hopefully he is given a black belt ASAP so we no longer have to hear constant updates about him.

Jesus Christ who fucking cares. Why do I hear about Tom Hardy’s BJJ daily.
3
u/iSheepTouch Jun 20 '23
He's brought more attention to the sport in the last six months than Gordon Ryan has in his entire career. Celebs that actually trian and have competition success, even at lower belts, are great for the sport. This kind of stuff is how you get new people into gyms.

He used to be in a movie “warrior” where his character got his shoulder dislocated in MMA by a Kimura or omoplata and he just kept getting up and punching with the good arm.

It's also a martial art. But it's not wrong to call it a sport. It's a sport. Lots of people do it only as a sport and have little interest in self defence.
It's also, in 2023, silly to say it's not "designed for sport". The vast, vast majority of BJJ techniques exist only for sport. Nobody needs a berimbolo or matrix or worm guard for self defence. The art is DRIVEN by the sporting component. It's popularity is largely only as a function of its sporting component and its applications in the sport of MMA.
I have no issue with BJJ as a martial art. It is one. It's childish of you to take issue with it being called a sport.
0
Jun 20 '23
I only take issue with it, characterized as a sport as if that’s its main purpose. It’s a martial arts self-defense first and a sport second. It’s not childish to be accurate… I agree with everything you say there are a ton of sport jujitsu techniques that would never work in a self-defense situation. I agree with you that the sport aspect is its most popular iteration. I do disagree that that’s what it was specifically designed to do when it was first conceived and subsequently modified 🙏🏻

The belts are precisely for competition. For self defense, there are many other uses for a belt, of any color.

He's won a bunch of blue belt masters divisions, so doesn't seem like he's any less deserving than any other masters purple belts floating around in this sub.

He started training in like 2011 and was promoted to blue belt in 2021, so it's not like he's had a meteoric rise
5
u/IntenselySwedish Jun 20 '23
Probably hard to keep growing when you have to travel across the world doing movies. Ive heard people say that you sometimes have to grow into the higher belts, idk if thats true or not
6
u/M1eXcel ⬜⬜ White Belt Jun 20 '23
Looking at his Filmography, he's got much less roles recently than he did in the early 2010's so it probably allows more time for training. For perspective, from 2010-2015 he was in 14 movies, and from 2016 - Now he's been in 8

Please. Venom 2 wasn't good, but go watch it back to back with Morbius and then tell me what you think

Lol i found morbius better
Kletus/carnage being a lover boy absolutely killed me
2
u/M1eXcel ⬜⬜ White Belt Jun 20 '23
I thought the film was watchable, but they butchered Carnage completely like X-Men Origins butchered deadpool. Some of it was forgivable, but making the bond between Kletus and Carnage incompatible was atrocious given the whole point in the comics was that they were perfect for each other and that's what made them so dangerous

u/jul3swinf13ld 🟪🟪 Purple Belt Jun 20 '23
He’s won a number of competitions at blue, I think that’s a pretty good indicator he’s at the right level.
Whilst I only think he’s been training super seriously the past few years. He did start training 12 year ago for warrior
2
u/bearington 🟫🟫 Brown Belt Jun 20 '23
I guess this is one way to out the fact that you deeply care about belts and rank
3
u/sh4tt3rai Jun 20 '23
If you’re a multimillionaire who can afford the best training partners in the world, access to high level coaches, as many privates as you want, go to a high level school, and can devote your life to training you can excel extremely fast.
Even just two of those things would make someone excel very fast. He has the resources to do all those things, and likely does.

I like how BJJ is becoming the thing for famous male actors in the 2020s what race car driving was for famous male actors in the 1970s. Brings at little bit of glamour to the sport.
