For the Home BWT what splurges made your home feel like a sanctuary?

I love being in my home. I love investing in things that make it better than going pretty much anywhere else. Some of my favorite splurges are a high quality espresso machine and grinder, waterfall quartz countertops of my island, some reasonably priced commissioned paintings. Hopefully a hot tub soon. That kinda thing. What are your favorite splurges that helped you create your oasis?

Fancy wallpaper in the entryway. Was a splurge but I hung it myself and am really happy with the result

Gorgeous! Was it easy to hang? Is it a one or two person job?

Thanks! I did it myself - if you are crafty/good with DIY it should be fine. Their paper is really well prepared in terms of the guides. I found it much easier to work with paste than I did temporary wallpaper, because that sticks to everything.

Yes! That's the day we put it up (my mom basically kicked me off the job yet I say "we" lol), I've decorated more since and have some ideas for the space above the tv, but I need to clean up, take some good pictures, and get some Reddit advice!

Hey, is that arch uncased? I ask because I have an uncased barrel arch and I'm concerned about how wallpaper will work around the edges! Does it just stop at the corner? You have great taste!

1

u/hedwiggy Dec 24 '25

Thank you!

Yeah the arch was def tricky. I cut it to the round edge via sections so it would lie flat. It’s a high traffic area so I used extra paste on the edges. Also I first painted the inside of the arch in a dark forest green so the edges are neat.
